Register discovered components

You can register components that are automatically discovered on machines where Monitor Agent is installed to collect system health and performance metrics.

Prerequisites for monitoring

Each component has individual requirements for monitoring. Refer to the prerequisites section of the component type that you want to register for more information.

Register discovered components for monitoring

When you register a discovered component, the agent and component type are automatically populated. You must be assigned the Administrator or Manager role to register components.

To register discovered components, complete the following steps:

1. Access ArcGIS Monitor if necessary.

   The Home page appears.

2. Click Monitoring.

   The Monitoring page appears. Registered components are listed alphabetically by component name.

3. Click the Discovered components filter on the side of the page.

   The list displays the discovered components sorted alphabetically by component name.

4. Click Register next to the name of the component you want to register.

   The Register component wizard appears with the Component Details page active. The agent and component type are prepopulated and cannot be changed.

5. Provide a name for the component in the Component name text box.
6. Optionally, provide a description for the component in the Description text box.
7. Optionally, click Apply Labels and choose the labels that you want to apply to the component.

   Tip:

   Provide the name of a label in the Enter label name text box to search for a specific label. If the label doesn't exist, click Create new label to add the label and apply it to the component.

8. Click Next.

   The Connection page appears.

9. Provide the necessary connection information for the component on the Connection page.

   Each component type has specific connection information that must be provided for component registration. Refer to the registration section of the component type that you want to register for more information.

10. Click Register component.

    The component is added to the list of monitored components on the Monitoring page.

Each component type has specific observers, collected attributes, metrics, and default alert rules. Refer to the relevant section of the component type that you registered for more information.

Once a component is registered, you can configure alert rules and add the component to collections.
