Manage dataviews

You can view, manage, and add dataviews to your favorites for quick access on the Dataviews tab of the Analysis page.

View dataviews and their usage

To view a dataview, complete the following steps:

  1. Access ArcGIS Monitor if necessary.

    The Home page appears.

  2. Click Analysis.

    The Analysis page appears with a list of analysis views.

  3. Click the Dataviews tab.

    The Dataviews page appears with a list of dataviews.

  4. Optionally, do any or all of the following:
    • Click a category on the side of the page to filter the list by that category.
    • Click Resources and create a query to filter the list by resources.
    • Click Sort and change the sorting method.
    • Click Filter and create a query to filter the list.
    • Type a keyword in the Search by dataview name or description text box to search for specific dataviews.
  5. Click the name of the dataview that you want to view.

    The dataview's Overview page appears with a list of the analysis views that use the dataview under the Analyses section on the side of the page.

  6. Optionally, click the Results tab to view data that matches the dataview expression.

Edit dataview details

You can change the name and description of a custom dataview from its Settings page. You must be assigned the Administrator or Manager role to edit dataviews. To change a dataview's name and description, complete the following steps:

  1. Access ArcGIS Monitor if necessary.

    The Home page appears.

  2. Click Analysis.

    The Analysis page appears with a list of analysis views.

  3. Click the Dataviews tab.

    The Dataviews page appears with a list of dataviews.

  4. Optionally, do any or all of the following:
    • Click Resources and create a query to filter the list by resources.
    • Click Sort and change the sorting method.
    • Click Filter and create a query to filter the list.
    • Click a category on the side of the page to filter the list by that category.
    • Type a keyword in the Search by dataview name or description text box to search for specific dataviews.
  5. Click the name of the custom dataview that you want to edit.

    The dataview's Overview page appears.

  6. Click the Settings tab.

    The dataview's Settings page appears.

    Note:

    The Settings page is not available for system dataviews.

  7. On the Settings page, in the Dataview details section, click Edit.

    The Edit dataview dialog box appears.

  8. Update the name and description of the dataview in the Name and Description text boxes as necessary .
  9. Click Save.

    The dataview's name and description are updated.

Edit dataviews

You can edit a user-created dataview to refine the data returned by its query. You must be assigned the Administrator or Manager role to edit dataviews.

To edit a dataview query, complete the following steps:

  1. Access ArcGIS Monitor if necessary.

    The Home page appears.

  2. Click Analysis.

    The Analysis page appears with a list of analysis views.

  3. Click the Dataviews tab.

    The Dataviews page appears with a list of list of dataviews.

  4. Optionally, do any or all of the following:
    • Click Resources and create a query to filter the list by resources.
    • Click Sort and change the sorting method.
    • Click Filter and create a query to filter the list.
    • Click a category on the side of the page to filter the list by that category.
    • Type a keyword in the Search by dataview name or description text box to search for specific dataviews.
  5. Click the name of the custom dataview that you want to edit.

    The dataview's Overview page appears with a list of the analysis views that use the dataview in the Analyses section on the side of the page.

    Caution:

    Editing a dataview can affect multiple analysis views in your organization's Monitor deployment. If the dataview is used by multiple analysis views, it is recommended that you duplicate the dataview, make changes to the duplicated dataview query, and update individual analysis view elements to use the duplicated dataview as necessary.

  6. Click Edit.

    The expression builder switches to edit mode.

  7. Update the dataview query as necessary.
  8. Click Save.

    The dataview's query is updated and all analysis view elements that use the dataview are automatically updated.

Duplicate dataviews

You can duplicate dataviews and customize them. You must be assigned the Administrator or Manager role to duplicate dataviews.

To duplicate a dataview, complete the following steps:

  1. Access ArcGIS Monitor if necessary.

    The Home page appears.

  2. Click Analysis.

    The Analysis page appears with a list of analysis views.

  3. Click the Dataviews tab.

    The Dataviews page appears with a list of list of dataviews.

  4. Optionally, do any or all of the following:
    • Click Resources and create a query to filter the list by resources.
    • Click Sort and change the sorting method.
    • Click Filter and create a query to filter the list.
    • Click a category on the side of the page to filter the list by that category.
    • Type a keyword in the Search by dataview name or description text box to search for specific dataviews.
  5. Click the name of the dataview that you want to duplicate.

    The dataview's Overview page appears.

  6. Click Duplicate.

    The Create dataview dialog box appears.

  7. Provide a name for the dataview in the Name text box.
  8. Optionally, provide a description for the dataview in the Description text box.
  9. Click Create dataview.

    The dataview is duplicated, and its Overview page appears.

Add dataviews to your favorites

You can add dataviews that you use often to your favorites and instantly access them using the Favorites category filter on the Dataviews page.

To add a dataview to your favorites, complete the following steps:

  1. Access ArcGIS Monitor if necessary.

    The Home page appears.

  2. Click Analysis.

    The Analysis page appears with a list of analysis views.

  3. Click the Dataviews tab.

    The Dataviews page appears with a list of list of dataviews.

  4. Optionally, do any or all of the following:
    • Click Resources and create a query to filter the list by resources.
    • Click Sort and change the sorting method.
    • Click Filter and create a query to filter the list.
    • Click a category on the side of the page to filter the list by that category.
    • Type a keyword in the Search by dataview name or description text box to search for specific dataviews.
  5. Click Add to favorites Add to favorites for the dataview that you want to add to your favorites.
    Tip:

    To remove a dataview from your favorites, click Remove from favorites Remove from favorites next to the dataview.

Delete dataviews

You can delete a user-created dataview from the Settings page. You must be assigned the Administrator role to delete dataviews.

To delete a dataview, complete the following steps:

  1. Access ArcGIS Monitor if necessary.

    The Home page appears.

  2. Click Analysis.

    The Analysis page appears with a list of analysis views.

  3. Click the Dataviews tab.

    The Dataviews page appears with a list of list of dataviews.

  4. Optionally, do any or all of the following:
    • Click Resources and create a query to filter the list by resources.
    • Click Sort and change the sorting method.
    • Click Filter and create a query to filter the list.
    • Click a category on the side of the page to filter the list by that category.
    • Type a keyword in the Search by dataview name or description text box to search for specific dataviews.
  5. Click the name of the user-created dataview that you want to delete.

    The dataview's Overview page appears with a list of the analysis views that use the dataview in the Analyses section on the side of the page.

    Caution:

    Deleting a dataview can affect multiple analysis views in your organization's Monitor deployment. If the dataview is used in multiple analysis view elements, it is recommended that you change the dataview for those elements before deleting the dataview.

  6. Click the Settings tab.

    The dataview's Settings page appears.

  7. Click Delete.

    A confirmation dialog box appears.

    Caution:

    Deleting a dataview is permanent and can't be undone.

  8. Click Delete.

    The dataview is deleted.
