Analysis

Analysis in ArcGIS Monitor helps administrators answer broad, large-scale questions about the overall health, usage, performance, and inventory of my organization's enterprise GIS implementation. Analysis can also be used to identify specific issues and identify correlations between key data, such as related alerts and metric values.

The analysis views included with Monitor can be used as a starting point for identifying patterns and can be fully customized to meet the needs of your organization. If the information that you need isn't available in one of the included analysis views, you can create custom views that leverage all of the data collected by Monitor to help you observe, identify, and troubleshoot issues that are unique to your system architecture and environments. The following are examples of analysis views that you can create:

  • A high-level analysis view can be created to provide you with a general sense of the health, performance, and usage of an enterprise GIS implementation. This type of analysis is also useful for identifying patterns that require further investigation. Useful data might include new or active alerts along with key ArcGIS, database, and host metrics.
  • An infrastructure analysis view can be created to identify patterns of utilization for hardware and network resources. Useful data might include CPU, RAM, disk, and network utilization data along with corresponding alerts.
  • A critical components analysis view can be created to exclusively focus on the key components of an enterprise GIS implementation. Useful data might include metrics data for key ArcGIS services, such as response times and request rates along with corresponding alerts.
