ArcGIS IPS consumption in apps

Available for an ArcGIS organization licensed with the ArcGIS IPS extension.

You can integrate ArcGIS IPS in Esri apps or custom-built mobile apps.

Esri apps

Indoor positioning can be used across ArcGIS and is supported in ArcGIS Indoors Mobile, ArcGIS Field Maps, and starting at the ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5 release, also in ArcGIS Mission Responder.

Indoors Mobile requires a dedicated map file called a mobile map package (.mmpk). Indoor positioning data can be packaged in a mobile map package and shared with others for use in mobile apps. Mobile map packages containing indoor positioning data provide a live location for the users of Indoors Mobile.

Note:

Indoor positioning system (IPS) awareness is incompatible with Field Maps and the ArcGIS Indoors Mobile Classic apps.

If you are using Field Maps or Indoors Mobile Classic, use the Classic toolset with the data stored in the IPS_Positioning table in the mobile map package.

Custom apps

The indoor positioning engine is a part of the Maps SDKs for native apps. This enables custom mobile apps developed in Kotlin and Swift running on Maps SDKs (version 200.3 and later) to seamlessly incorporate IPS-aware maps and provide real-time indoor positioning when the facilities are equipped with an IPS.
