Enable ArcGIS Field Maps in ArcGIS GeoBIM

ArcGIS GeoBIM workflows can also be extended to the field through ArcGIS Field Maps. When your ArcGIS GeoBIM web maps are enabled for ArcGIS Field Maps a new web map item is created and added to the My content collection, as well as the Maps page. This new web map contains pre-configured forms that allow workers on site to quickly collect New Field Maps Issues and Notes which are added to the ArcGIS GeoBIM app. This integration helps to streamline collaboration and communication efforts between office and field staff throughout the lifecycle of a project.

Follow these steps to enable ArcGIS Field Maps integration in your ArcGIS GeoBIM project.

1. Open the Maps page.

   The web maps for the ArcGIS GeoBIM project appear on this page.

   Note:

   The GeoBIM Project Map card has a warning icon to highlight This web map does not include note layers. If you want note layers included you should use the web map from your GeoBIM app which contains Area Notes, Line Notes, and Location Notes.

   Web scenes are not currently supported in ArcGIS Field Maps.

2. Click the More button on the web map of your choice and click Enable Field Maps.

   A dialog opens on the Maps page and starts to process. The new web map opens in Field Maps Designer after processing has finished and will be called {your GeoBIM project web map name} Map for Field.

   Note:

   Your browser needs to allow pop-up windows for Field Maps Designer to be launched.

3. Individually open the New Field Maps Issues and Notes layers in Field Maps Designer.

   Pre-configured forms display for the aforementioned layers.

   Note:

   The forms contain some required fields which ensures this important information is always included during data collection in the ArcGIS Field Maps mobile app.

4. Close the current tab in your browser.

   The new ArcGIS GeoBIM project web map enabled for ArcGIS Field Maps appears on the Maps page.

   Note:

   This web map will be called {your GeoBIM project web map name} Map for Field and the map card will display a mobile device icon to indicate it can be used for field collection in the ArcGIS Field Maps app.

5. Optionally, click the More button on the project web map for ArcGIS Field Maps and click Open in Field Maps Designer.

   Field Maps Designer will open in a new tab again.

Note:

There is already a default configuration done by ArcGIS GeoBIM, but you can use Field Maps Designer to make any adjustments to the configuration.

After configuring the map, you are now ready to create issues or create notes for the ArcGIS GeoBIM app using the ArcGIS Field Maps mobile app.
