Add ArcGIS GeoBIM layers to map and scenes

Parcels, utilities, topography, and environmental layers can bring GIS context to the engineering process. If you have a map that pertains to an Autodesk BIM 360 or Autodesk Construction Cloud project, you can choose this map when creating an ArcGIS GeoBIM application.

You can also combine layers from your ArcGIS content with the existing ArcGIS GeoBIM layers in the project web map.

Add ArcGIS GeoBIM layers to a project web map

Follow the steps below to edit a web map for a seamless ArcGIS Field Maps integration.

  1. Create an ArcGIS GeoBIM project.
  2. Add an Autodesk account.
  3. Run the tools to synchronize.
  4. Add links as needed.
  5. Create an ArcGIS GeoBIM Viewer app and add a web map by clicking the Select Map button in the Source pane in the App Editor.
  6. Choose the Save As option to create a copy of the web map.
  7. Add widgets to the app and click Save.
  8. Go to your content in ArcGIS Online and open the saved web map.

You can add any reference layers you want to use for your field work later.

    Note:

Refer to the ArcGIS Online help page to get familiar with adding layers to a map

New ArcGIS GeoBIM layers are placed on top of the ArcGIS Online contents and the map.

  9. Optionally, move the reference layers to the bottom of the map.

You can change styles of the ArcGIS GeoBIM layers on ArcGIS Online.

  10. Save the web map and go back to the ArcGIS GeoBIM project.
  11. Go to the Maps page in ArcGIS GeoBIM, and find the web map.

You can enable ArcGIS Field Maps using this map.

Follow the steps above before you change any settings for the ArcGIS GeoBIM layers (Documents, Issues, BIMProjects).

Note:

The style of ArcGIS GeoBIM layers can be changed as needed, but avoid creating a definition query to filter the data. If a definition query is required for some apps, set it in the web map, not the feature service.
