Introduction to Vision Zero

Vision Zero can be used to solicit transportation hazards and dangerous traffic behaviors on roadways from bikers, drivers, pedestrians, and others using public streets.

Traffic collisions result in thousands of deaths each year and many communities are beginning to tackle this public health problem by adopting Vision Zero programs. Vision Zero programs engage many internal and external stakeholders (for example, the general public, planners, engineers, public health officials, and policymakers) and use data-driven strategies to create safer roadways for travelers. A key aspect of any Vision Zero program is a web destination that helps agencies share key initiatives with the public and solicit feedback from stakeholders. Feedback is then used to understand perceived problems, visualize trends, and inform policies. Vision Zero is typically implemented by public works, transportation, and public safety agencies that want to engage stakeholders and use data to reduce traffic hazards in their community.

The Vision Zero solution delivers a set of capabilities that help you share your Vision Zero strategy with the public, solicit transportation hazards and dangerous traffic behaviors from key stakeholders, manage each reported hazard, and monitor the status of its resolution.
