When a multifile feature connection (MFC) is created, there are several properties that define the connection. It is important to inspect the MFC properties and update them to correctly reflect your data. The properties define how the data is used, processed by geoprocessing tools, and visualized.
You can modify the following properties on your multifile feature connection datasets:
- Fields—The field name, types, and visibility.
- File—The file properties used to read the dataset. File properties are only editable for delimitated files.
- Filter—An expression used to limit the features used in analysis.
- Geometry—How geometry is represented. Geometry is not editable for shapefiles.
- Time—How time is represented.
You can update MFC properties using the following methods:
- Use the New Multifile Feature Connection dialog box to create and edit an MFC.
- Browse to an existing MFC in Catalog, right-click the dataset to update, and select Properties.
- Use the GeoAnalytics Desktop tool Update Multifile Feature Connection Properties to update an existing MFC.
- Edit the MFC file manually.
