You can use rich text elements in a dashboard to provide additional context. These elements can be as simple or complex as you like. You can include anything in rich text elements from small amounts of fixed text, to large amounts of instructions, notes, contact information, or website links. You can even insert images and videos into the element.
Adding a high amount of external content into the rich text element can reduce dashboard performance.
You can quickly create rich text by using the what-you-see-is-what-you-get (WYSIWYG) HTML editor. To include more advanced content, such as web content tags, enter this directly into the HTML source. See Effective use of HTML for details.
Here are some tips for using URLs in the rich text element:
- If your dashboard will only be accessed over a secure HTTPS connection, use HTTPS: in your URL references. If not, consider using a relative URL, which doesn't have the HTTPS: or HTTP: scheme specified, such as //www.example.com/logo.png.
- If the URL references a domain different than your ArcGIS organization, the server hosting the requested resources should support CORS requests from your ArcGIS organization.
