Content basics

People can view content displayed on your site's layout and by opening content made available through your site's search bar. The content you share can include any supported ArcGIS Online item, such as web maps, feature layers, stories, and surveys. Items can also include external resources, such as PDFs, Microsoft Word Documents, and CAD files. For a list of all content supported in ArcGIS Hub, see Prepare your content.

Content preview pages (views)

All items belonging to a Hub site's content library has a preview page which helps audiences evaluate its purpose and trustworthiness. People can then take actions to explore full-page PDFs, maps, and datasets and download them for their own use off-line. They can also create new content, including maps and stories. These pages, also known as views, are non-configurable webpages that adopt the site's header, theme, and footer to ensure consistent formatting of your site's branding.

Explore pages

An explore page displays spatial data on a full-screen map and non-spatial, tabular data on a full-screen table. Key information and actions to filter and download are available on a collapsible side panel which also includes access to the content’s full details page. The side panel persists on both explore and full details pages.

Full details pages

A full details page, also known as an about view, includes an overview of the content being viewed and provides key actions to create content, view related content, and access metadata. All explore pages have a full details page. For content that doesn’t have an explore view, the default view is the full details page.

Content families

ArcGIS items that are supported in ArcGIS Hub are organized into non-configurable families. The content preview page that opens for an item depends on its family. The following table shows which preview page opens by default for a given item type.

Nota:

If you navigate to a view that is not the priority view for that item type, then ArcGIS Hub will not redirect you to the priority view.
