ArcGIS Enterprise configuration of Track Viewer

This topic only applies to ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7 and 10.7.1. If you are using ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8 or later, Track Viewer is installed by default. See How do I install ArcGIS Tracker for more information.

Before ArcGIS Enterprise users can create track views or view tracks in Track Viewer, you must set up ArcGIS Enterprise and install Track Viewer on your Windows or Linux machine.

Requirements

To install Track Viewer on ArcGIS Enterprise, you need a base ArcGIS Enterprise deployment and a spatiotemporal big data store (one of the types of data stores available through the ArcGIS Data Store) using ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7 or later. The Track Viewer for ArcGIS setup must be run on all machines running the Portal for ArcGIS component. For high-availability configurations of ArcGIS Enterprise, the Track Viewer for ArcGIS setup must be installed on both the primary and secondary portal machines.

Supported versions

While Track Viewer is supported on ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7 or later, the version of Track Viewer that is supported varies based on your version of ArcGIS Enterprise.

  • ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1 supports Track Viewer 19.2.0.
  • ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7 supports Track Viewer 19.1.0.

Web app requirements

Track Viewer is supported with the following desktop web browsers. For best performance, use the latest version of the browser.

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Safari

Download the setup

Download the Track Viewer for ArcGIS setup to install it on your machine.

  1. Sign in to My Esri with your Esri account that is tied to your customer number.
  2. Click My Organizations and click Downloads.
    Note:

    If you are a member of multiple organizations, make sure the name and customer number of the organization you want to work with display in the upper right corner. If they do not, click Organization List and choose a different organization before clicking Downloads.

    All the products that are available to you (based on your customer number) display.

  3. Find the ArcGIS Enterprise product and version that you want to deploy Track Viewer to, and click View Downloads—for example, ArcGIS Enterprise (Windows) 10.7 or ArcGIS Enterprise (Linux) 10.7.
  4. Expand the Apps section.
  5. Click Download for the Track Viewer for ArcGIS setup, and save it to your machine.

Install on Windows

Once you have met the requirements, complete the following steps to install Track Viewer on a Windows machine:

  1. Browse to the location of the downloaded installation file, extract the archive file, and double-click the setup.exe file.

    The setup program detects the ArcGIS Enterprise components on your machine, verifying that you have Portal for ArcGIS. If it is not detected, the program closes.

  2. Follow the directions in the installation wizard. Read the license agreement and accept it, or exit if you do not agree with the terms.

    The default installation directory for Track Viewer is C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Portal\apps.

  3. Repeat the previous step, installing Track Viewer on all machines running the Portal for ArcGIS component.

    For high-availability configurations of ArcGIS Enterprise, install Track Viewer on both the primary and secondary portal machines.

Install on Linux

Once you have met the requirements, complete the following steps to install Track Viewer on a Linux machine:

  1. Sign in to your machine as a user with administrative privileges.
  2. Browse to the location of the downloaded installation file and extract the archive file.
  3. Run the setup command.
  4. Repeat the steps, installing Track Viewer on all machines running the Portal for ArcGIS component.

    For high-availability configurations of ArcGIS Enterprise, install Track Viewer on both the primary and secondary portal machines.

Use Track Viewer

When the setup completes, you are ready to use Track Viewer. In a browser, sign in to your organization and open Track Viewer. By default, Track Viewer is in the app launcher if it's installed and you have the view location tracks privilege.

In Track Viewer, click Resources to access help.

Tip:

Resources opens help on the Esri website, which always reflects the latest version of Track Viewer. If you are using an earlier version of Track Viewer, you can use help installed on your portal that is specific to your version of Track Viewer. The help local to your portal can be accessed by adding /help at the end of the URL to Track Viewer, for example, https://host.domain.com/webadaptor/apps/trackviewer/help.

Upgrade

When a new version of Track Viewer is available, upgrade to it by uninstalling your existing version and installing the new version. Your track views aren't affected or modified by this process.

If you upgrade ArcGIS Enterprise, you might need to upgrade Track Viewer as well. Specific versions of Track Viewer are supported on specific versions of ArcGIS Enterprise. See Supported versions. You must remove Track Viewer before installing the new version.

Uninstall

If you no longer need to use Track Viewer, you can uninstall it from ArcGIS Enterprise.

  1. Open the Control Panel and click Programs and Features.
  2. In the Programs list, right-click Track Viewer and click Uninstall.
