ArcGIS for Teams assistant (beta) is an in-app productivity tool that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to recommend search results and data. It provides suggestions and understands geographic context through prompts or search queries.
Note:
Your organization administrator must enable the ArcGIS for Teams assistant (beta). You can then turn it on or off by clicking Options > Settings > Enable AI assistant.

Prompts
The Search or Help prompt suggestions can help you find specific ArcGIS content.
To use ArcGIS for Teams assistant (beta), either select a suggested prompt or enter your own prompt to generate search results. Use the prompt suggestions as a resource for forming your own search queries. A well-formed query is short and direct; verbose queries take longer for ArcGIS for Teams assistant (beta) to process.
You can use the examples below as guidance in crafting well-formed prompts:

Conversational search with AI
With the introduction of conversational AI, you can now use more natural language-based prompts to search ArcGIS items.
Note:
Your organization administrator must enable the ArcGIS for Teams assistant (beta). You can then turn it on or off by clicking Options > Settings > Enable AI assistant.
When in a Microsoft Teams chat, you can provide prompts for searching ArcGIS content. Use the following steps to get, and start chatting with the ArcGIS for Teams assistant (beta):
- Click the Options tab and sign in to ArcGIS to access the Settings pane, or start with a search question in the Microsoft Teams chat, and click Search on the ArcGIS card.
While signing in to ArcGIS, choose ArcGIS Online in the sign in window, and enter your credentials.
- In the Options tab, Settings pane, turn on Enable AI assistant.
- Return to the Chat tab and start searching:
- You can click a link in the search results you want to view. The corresponding card opens.
- You can continue searching in the chat and ask the ArcGIS for Teams assistant (beta) to open a result you want to see.
- Click Open to open in a viewer of your selection.
- Click Details to open a browser window showing the ArcGIS Online layer details page.
