This topic covers which item types you can currently open privately or publicly, which are unavailable, and how the list is expanding based on user feedback. Instructions for accessing your ArcGIS content and details about supported items in ArcGIS for Teams are provided.
User license requirements
Outside of the available guest experience, a viewer license from an ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise account is the minimum required to use ArcGIS for Teams features. This gives you full access to your organizations and public ArcGIS content across browsers, desktops, and mobile devices in Microsoft Teams. Item sharing levels within an organization determine how members access ArcGIS resources.
ArcGIS items within your organization can be shared at various levels. If an item's sharing level is set to Owner, it will be accessible only by the owner and displayed exclusively in My Content within ArcGIS for Teams. Items shared within your organization can appear in My Content, My Organization, and My Groups in ArcGIS for Teams depending on where they are shared. If items are set to Everyone, they become publicly available in ArcGIS Online.
Applications within ArcGIS for Teams
ArcGIS is accessible in four main areas of Microsoft Teams: Chats, Meetings, Teams channels, and your personal Microsoft Teams app space. Each area offers a tailored workspace that enables ArcGIS interactions suited to its context.
Compatible apps
The following table outlines the sharing levels of ArcGIS items and their accessibility in ArcGIS for Teams, specifically opening on the Viewer tab. When accessing ArcGIS items through other Microsoft Teams features such as Chats, Meetings, or Teams channels, the items are conveniently organized as tabs using the ArcGIS for Teams Add a Tab feature.

Find ArcGIS items in ArcGIS for Teams
You can start searching for ArcGIS items directly from the chat, and open them in the ArcGIS for Teams viewer. Whether you use chat, a channel tab, or meetings, the search workflow remains consistent across all parts of Microsoft Teams.
ArcGIS for Teams organizes content similarly to ArcGIS organizational portals, such as ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise. You can access various item types from ArcGIS software and applications, sorted by My Content, My Organization, My Groups, or public content on ArcGIS Online. Both the ArcGIS for Teams assistant and the search function in ArcGIS for Teams provide access based on what is currently available. As shown in the table above, applications can be opened in ArcGIS Online, in ArcGIS Enterprise, and publicly online or in ArcGIS Living Atlas depending on their sharing settings within your ArcGIS organization—My Content, My Organization, or Everyone.
Note:
Check back for notes on each release, as ArcGIS for Teams capabilities and application integrations continue to grow and change and new ArcGIS items become available, helping you integrate ArcGIS and Microsoft workflows.
