Remove a layer

Note:

You need the following account and license types to use this workflow:

  • Microsoft license—You need a Microsoft 365 license, with the Contributor role or higher, to use this workflow.
  • ArcGIS account type—Standard users can perform the basic functions of this workflow; you do not need to sign in.

You can remove layers from ArcGIS for Microsoft 365 maps.

You cannot remove a data layer from a map. Use the visualization field wells to remove or update data layers. All other layer types can be removed from a map.

To remove a layer from a map, complete the following steps:

  1. From the map tools, click the Layers button Layers.

    The Layers list appears on the map.

  2. On the layer that you want to remove, click the Layer options button Layer options to display the layer tools.

    Note:
    You cannot remove a layer that was created using Microsoft Power BI data.

  3. Click Remove Remove.

    A confirmation message appears.

  4. Click Yes to confirm the removal.

    The layer is permanently removed from the map.
