Note:
You need the following account and license types to use this workflow:
- Microsoft license—You need a Microsoft 365 license, with the Contributor role or higher, to use this workflow.
- ArcGIS account type—Standard users can perform the basic functions of this workflow; you do not need to sign in.
You can remove layers from ArcGIS for Microsoft 365 maps.

You cannot remove a data layer from a map. Use the visualization field wells to remove or update data layers. All other layer types can be removed from a map.
To remove a layer from a map, complete the following steps:
- From the map tools, click the Layers button .
The Layers list appears on the map.
- On the layer that you want to remove, click the Layer options button to display the layer tools.
Note:
You cannot remove a layer that was created using Microsoft Power BI data. - Click Remove .
A confirmation message appears.
- Click Yes to confirm the removal.
The layer is permanently removed from the map.
