This is an archive related to a previous version of Esri Maps for IBM Cognos. If you need the current version go to http://doc.arcgis.com/en/maps-for-cognos/.
There are several options for navigating the map.
You can pan and zoom the map using the mouse, or zoom in and out using the zoom tools.
Depending on what is enabled, you may be able to change the map extent using an overview map or the Home and Previous extent/Next extent tools.
To begin exploring with your mouse, move the mouse pointer so that it is in the middle of the map display. Use the following table as a guide for completing navigation actions with the mouse.
Using the mouse to navigate offers the most flexibility. You can zoom to a specific area by pressing the Shift key while dragging a rectangle on the map. There is no equivalent to this using the zoom tools.
Action | Mouse button | Mouse function |
---|---|---|
Move or pan the map. | Click the left mouse button and drag the map in the direction in which you want it to move. | |
Zoom in to a specific area on the map. | Press the Shift key and then drag a rectangle with the left mouse button to designate the area of interest. | |
Zoom out to a specific area on the map. | Press the Shift and Ctrl keys and then drag a rectangle with the left mouse button to designate the area of interest. | |
Zoom in on the map at the location of the mouse pointer. | Double-click the left mouse button on the point of interest. |
The zoom tools are displayed in the upper right corner of the map. Use the zoom slider or the zoom in (+) and zoom out (-) icons to zoom in and out on the map.
If the overview map or the Home and Previous extent/Next extent tools were enabled, you can use these to change the map extent.
