Enable Wi-Fi-based indoor positioning

Available for an ArcGIS organization licensed with the ArcGIS IPS extension.

You can configure Wi-Fi-based indoor positioning using existing Wi-Fi networks in your indoor space.

To enable Wi-Fi-based indoor positioning, complete the following steps:

  1. License your organization with the ArcGIS IPS organizational extension for ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise.
  2. Create an ArcGIS IPS Information Model to host and manage your indoor positioning data.
  3. Optionally, create an indoor positioning system survey plan using ArcGIS Pro.
    Note:

Survey planning can also be completed directly in the IPS Setup app before conducting a survey.

  4. Conduct the survey according to the survey plan to collect Wi-Fi signals inside your indoor environment.
  5. Generate indoor positioning data using the collected survey data.
  6. Share the positioning data as an indoor positioning data service.
  7. Create an IPS-aware indoor map of your facilities.

You can now deploy live locations indoors.
