Administrators, site owners, and groups with edit access can manage existing surveys and share them with groups, the organization, or the public.
Manage and edit a survey
Survey owners and editors can edit and manage a survey in the survey workspace. If a survey is shared with a shared update group, any member of that group can edit it. In the workspace, click the Save button to save changes made on each pane before navigating to a different pane.
To manage a survey, complete the following steps:
- Sign in to ArcGIS Hub.
Your user workspace appears in the Overview pane.

If you are already signed in, click your username in the top corner and click View workspace to open your user workspace.
- In the side pane, click the Content tab
. - Use the Search bar, filters, and sorting options to find a survey.
For surveys, set the Type filter to Form.
- Click the Manage button
next to the survey name.Alternatively, when viewing a survey in Hub, click the Manage content button
on the side toolbar to open the survey workspace. - In the Details pane, add or edit the following information:
- Title
- Summary
- Thumbnail—Add a thumbnail image with a URL in ArcGIS Online.
- Add additional details—Update the description.
- Increase discoverability—Add tags and categories to improve search results.
- Choose terms of use—Select the terms of use from a list of licenses or create custom terms.
- Location—If applicable, set a location or draw one or more features to represent the geographic area related to this survey. If you draw nothing for location, the survey does not display on maps.
The updated details will appear on the survey view, except the tags and categories in Increase discoverability.
You can also edit some of these details in ArcGIS Online.
- Click Save to apply the changes.
- Click Settings and click the General pane to configure the survey display.
If a survey has a map question, you can set its display to be map-focused by choosing Map focused.
Surveys that do not have a map question will always use Standard display.
You can also turn on the setting to prevent accidental deletion or delete the survey.
- Click Settings and click the Sharing pane to set the Sharing level option. Share the item with groups to allow members to view or edit the item.
View-only group members can search and view the item, even if it is not shared to the public. Shared update group members can edit survey information in the workspace.

- Click the View survey button for a live view.
- Click the Edit in Survey123 button to edit in ArcGIS Survey123.
