System requirements

You can use ArcGIS GeoBIM and scene-based apps in desktop web browsers that support WebGL (a web technology standard for rendering 3D graphics) and WebAssembly. For best results in ArcGIS GeoBIM, verify that your browser and computer hardware meet the ArcGIS GeoBIM requirements. It is also recommended that you use the latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Currently, ArcGIS GeoBIM is not supported on mobile devices. See ArcGIS Enterprise system requirements documentation for ArcGIS GeoBIM for ArcGIS Enterprise system requirements.

Browser requirements

ArcGIS GeoBIM requires a desktop web browser that supports WebGL and WebAssembly. The latest versions of the most common desktop browsers have built-in WebGL. To test whether your browser has WebGL enabled, go to get.webgl.org. To troubleshoot WebGL-related issues, see WebGL troubleshooting. Keep your browser up to date, as WebGL and WebAssembly are evolving technologies and each browser version brings improvements that ArcGIS GeoBIM uses for optimal performance. To use ArcGIS GeoBIM, your browser must have hardware acceleration enabled.

ArcGIS GeoBIM and other scene-based apps support the following web browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge 83 and later
Note:

Safari 11 is not supported at this time; it is recommend that you use Chrome on Mac machines.

Tip:

Adjust the performance-quality settings in your browser to optimize performance and quality in the scene.

Hardware requirements

Your desktop browser must have a minimum of 8 GB system memory and a video graphics card that supports WebGL with 1 GB of video memory.

Graphics cards

Your graphics card must support OpenGL 3.0 (Shader Model 4.0) with the following specifications:

  • AMD/ATI—Radeon 4xxx or later
  • NVIDIA—GeForce 2xx or later, Quadro FX 3800 or later
  • Intel—HD 4000 or later

Nonmobile versions of graphics cards typically have better performance than mobile graphics cards (denoted with m or mobile).

Recommended server architecture

The ArcGIS GeoBIM geoprocessing service should be installed on an ArcGIS Server machine that is not used as the hosting server for Portal for ArcGIS. When the tools are running, the geoprocessing service can consume system resources that can impact Portal performance. The ArcGIS Server machine used must be federated with Portal. See Federate ArcGIS Serversite with your portal in the ArcGIS Enterprise help.
