Information about what's new in ArcGIS Places datasets is provided below.
The October 2025 release includes updates to Esri ArcGIS Places datasets.

Data product name change
This release, you may notice that the product name has been updated from Esri Location Data to ArcGIS Data.
Data Axle
The following updates were made to the ArcGIS Places datasets for Canada and the United States derived from content supplied by Data Axle:
- Release date October 2025; vintage August 2025.
- 992,000 records were added or updated for Canada, a net gain of 2,000 records.
- 13.3 million records were added or updated for the United States, a net gain of 14,000 records.
Note:
In early 2026, Esri will discontinue support for the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) based Business Summaries. North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) based Business Summaries will continue to be supported.
Esri India
The following updates were made to the ArcGIS Places datasets for India derived from content supplied by Esri India:
- Release date October 2025; vintage 2025.
- 15 million records were added or updated for India, a net gain of 5 million new records (a 50 percent increase).
- The overall attribute extent was increased to more rural locations.
- New attributes were added for government, education, residential, places of worship, and tourism.
- 51 new categories were added to support these additional records.
Foursquare
The following updates were made to the ArcGIS Places datasets derived from content supplied by Foursquare:
- Release date October 2025; vintage August 2025.
- 36.2 million records were added or updated in this global dataset, a 16.3 percent increase.
- Esri has incorporated Foursquare Open Source Places into the global ArcGIS Places data. As a result of this change to the source content, customers may notice some differences from previous versions when using this data in Esri products and services, such as the number of attributes available for a location, the number of regional place records returned, and an updated category code system. SafeGraph
The following updates were made to the ArcGIS Places datasets for Canada, Puerto Rico, and the United States derived from content supplied by SafeGraph:
- Release date October 2025; vintage August 2025.
- 135,000 points of interest records were added or updated for Puerto Rico, a net gain of 125,000 new locations (a 1,110 percent increase).
- 1.1 million points of interest records were added or updated for Canada, a net gain of approximately 100,000 new locations (a 9 percent increase).
- 18.8 million points of interest records were added or updated for the United States, a net gain of approximately 1 million new locations (a 6 percent increase).
