Directory of maps and data

The following ArcGIS Data Appliance 7.2 services are available for you to publish and use with your ArcGIS applications. Click the service name to view a full service description including copyright and attribution information.

The services are grouped into the following categories:

• Basemaps—Layers meant to be used on their own or overlaid with other layers
• Reference layers—Layers intended to be overlaid on basemaps to provide reference information
• World Elevation—Elevation layers for analysis, 2D, and 3D visualizations
• Elevation analysis—Geoprocessing tool for performing analysis on elevation data
• Locators—Geocode places

Basemaps

Antarctic Imagery This map provides 15m TerraColor imagery for the polar region of Antarctica.	Arctic Imagery This map provides 15m TerraColor imagery for the Arctic polar region.	Arctic Ocean Base This map includes bathymetry overlaid on land-cover and shaded relief for the Arctic polar region.
National Geographic World Map This map is designed to be used as a general reference map for informational and educational purposes as well as a basemap by GIS professionals and other users.	USA Topographic Maps This map presents land-cover imagery for the world and detailed topographic maps for the United States at various scales.	World Dark Gray Base This map draws attention to your thematic content by providing a neutral background with minimal colors, labels, and features.
World Hillshade This map portrays elevation as an artistic hillshade.	World Hillshade (Dark ) This map portrays elevation as an artistic hillshade and provides terrain context while highlighting feature layers and labels.	World Imagery This map is a compilation of satellite and aerial imagery worldwide.
World Light Gray Base This basemap provides a neutral background for your data with minimal colors, labels, and features.	World Ocean Base This map includes bathymetry and inland waters and roads, overlaid on land-cover and shaded relief imagery.	World Physical Map This map presents the Natural Earth physical map for the world.
World Street Map This map presents a street map with highway-level data for the world and detailed streets in many populated areas of the world.	World Topographic Map This map includes administrative boundaries, cities, water features, physiographic features, parks, landmarks, highways, roads, railways, and airports.

Reference layers

Arctic Ocean Reference This map includes marine water body names, undersea feature names, and derived depth values for use with the Arctic Ocean Base map.	World Boundaries and Places This map includes country boundaries, first-order (state/province) internal administrative boundaries for most countries, and place-names for the world. The map is designed to be overlaid on imagery basemaps.	World Boundaries and Places Alternate This map includes country boundaries, first-order (state/province) internal administrative boundaries for most countries, and place-names for the world. The map is designed to be overlaid on lighter backgrounds such as shaded relief basemaps.
World Dark Gray Reference This map provides labels for selected cities and towns around the world, in support of the World Dark Gray Base map.​	World Light Gray Reference This reference map provides labels for selected cities and towns around the world in support of World Light Gray Base.	World Ocean Reference This map includes surface and subsurface feature names and derived depths for use with the World Ocean Base map.
World Transportation This map presents transportation data—including highways, roads, railroads, and airports—for the world. This map should be overlaid on imagery basemaps.

World Elevation

Terrain This is a world elevation layer composed of multiresolution and multisource elevation data (DTM), which provides access to elevation values and derivatives such as slope, aspect, and hillshade to use in analysis and visualization.

Terrain 3D This is a world elevation surface to use for oblique viewing in scenes in ArcGIS Pro and the ArcGIS Online scene viewer.

Elevation analysis

Profile The Profile geoprocessing tool calculates profile tables for lines you specify on a global elevation dataset.

Locators

World Places Locator This locator enables you to geocode various types of places around the world. It references a geodatabase of more than 30 million places including countries, states and provinces, administrative areas (for example, counties), cities, landmarks, water bodies, and more.
