Configure Catch Basin and Outlet Inspections

Catch Basin and Outlet Inspections can be used to streamline the inspection of catch basins and outlets.

In this topic, you'll learn how to configure the Catch Basin and Outlet Inspections solution to meet specific needs of your organization.

Provision users

Included in the Catch Basin and Outlet Inspections solution are a few groups designed to help managers organize their members based on the work they do and their privileges.

Add users to groups

Included with Catch Basin and Outlet Inspections are three groups designed to help managers organize their members based on their privileges and their work.

To add members to the groups, complete the following steps:

  1. In a browser, sign in to your ArcGIS organization.
    Verify that you have privileges to manage member groups before continuing.
  2. At the top of the site, click Groups.
  3. Click the name of the group to open the group details pages.
  4. On the Settings tab, edit and update the properties of the group, including access, sharing properties, and group ownership.
  5. Click the Overview tab and click Invite members.
  6. Select the members you want to add and click Add to group.
  7. Repeat these steps for each group that you need to add members to.

The provided groups are intended to be utilized by members with a minimum of the following user types in order to fully use the provided maps and apps:

Catch Basin and Outlet Inspections Mobile Users Group

Add users to an ArcGIS Workforce project

Included with Catch Basin and Outlet Inspections are two Workforce projects to dispatch inspection work. Users need to be assigned the role of mobile worker within those projects for them to receive and complete inspection assignments. Users must also be assigned the role of dispatcher to review and assign inspection work.

To add users to the Stormwater Catch Basin Inspections Assignments and Stormwater Outlet Inspections Assignments projects, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS organization and click the Apps button Apps button in the header of the site.
  2. From the app launcher, click Workforce to open the app.
  3. Under Projects, hover over the Stormwater Catch Basin Inspections Assignments project and click Configure.
  4. Click the Users tab.
  5. From the Organization User drop-down menu, select a user to add to the project.
  6. From the Project Role menu, assign the user either the dispatcher role or mobile worker role.
  7. Click +User.
  8. Repeat steps 5 through 7 for each mobile worker and dispatcher who needs to conduct inspections.
  9. Repeat steps 3 through 7 for the Stormwater Outlet Inspections Assignments project.

Load data

This solution deploys with the StormwaterSystem feature layer from the Stormwater Data Management solution. If you are using the Catch Basin and Outlet Inspections solution independently from the Stormwater Data Management solution and don't have your data loaded, you will need to load data into the catch basin and the outlet layers.

Use the Data Loading toolset

The Data Loading toolset contains tools to streamline data loading from a source schema to a target schema. The tools help reduce the time and complexity of migrating to a new data schema.

If using ArcGIS Pro 3.0 - 3.1 install the toolbox and review the Data Loading Tools documentation to learn more.

To load data using ArcGIS Pro 3.2, complete the following steps:

  1. Open ArcGIS Pro.
  2. Click Tools in the Geoprocessing group on the Analysis tab of the ribbon.
  3. Expand the Data Management Tools then expand the Data Loading toolset.
  4. Review the Data Loading toolset documentation to understand how to load data into the StormwaterSystem feature service or to a map from in your ArcGIS organization.

Load data from a shapefile or file geodatabase

Catch basin and outlet data must be loaded into the StormwaterSystem layer before using the Catch Basin and Outlet Inspections solution.

To load data from a shapefile or file geodatabase, complete the following steps:

  1. Create a .zip file of your shapefile or file geodatabase.
  2. Verify that you are signed in to your ArcGIS organization and browse to the StormwaterSystem feature layer.
  3. From the item page, select the Catch Basin sublayer.
  4. From the item page, click Update Data.
  5. Follow the steps in the Update data wizard to load your data.
  6. Tip:

    For more information about uploading data, see Manage hosted feature layers—Append data to layers.

  7. Repeat these steps to load data into the Outlet feature layer.

Extend inspection tables schema

The Catch Basin and Outlet Inspections solution includes a notebook to extend the catch basin and outlet inspections table schemas.

Note:

You must be assigned a role of Administrator or a custom role that includes the privilege to create and edit notebooks to run an ArcGIS Notebooks and complete the workflow below.

To extend the schema of the catch basin and outlet inspection tables from the Stormwater Data Management solution, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS organization and browse to the Extend Schema the Catch Basin and Outlet management schema notebook.
  2. Click Open Notebook.
  3. Click Cell and select Run All from the drop-down menu.

    The two source layers default to the Outlet Inspections Extend Schema: 3 and Catch Basin Inspections Extend Schema: 2. The target layers are Outlet_Inspection: 4000220 and Catch Basin Inspection: 4000280 as the target. All the fields should be shown, and the selector should be set to Fields to Add.

  4. Click the Extend Schema button.
  5. When all processes are complete, close the notebook.
