Settings

Settings are available in ArcGIS Web Editor in the Settings pane. The settings allow you to turn map tools, editing behaviors, and shortcuts on or off.

Click Settings on the Contents (dark) toolbar to open the Settings pane.

Map tools

The Map tools section includes the following settings:

  • Enable directional pad—When enabled, arrow buttons are available to pan the map.
  • Enable map rotation using the directional pad—When enabled, a slider is available to rotate the map.

These tools can be used to navigate the map without leaving editing modes (either creating or editing features) and without using keyboard shortcuts.

Editing

The Editing section includes the following settings:

  • Show the Attribute pane when creating features—When enabled, the Create features pane appears after the geometry for the feature is added. The Create features pane allows you to update the attributes for the feature at the time it is created. If this setting is turned off, the feature is created when the geometry is added, without providing the option to update the attributes. This option may be preferred in situations in which the fields have default values that do not need to be updated.
  • Show delete features prompt—When enabled, a message appears when features are deleted. The message allows you to confirm the deletion or cancel.

Shortcuts

The Shortcuts section includes the following settings:

  • Enable shortcuts—When enabled, keyboard shortcuts can be used to navigate the map and use editing tools.
  • Show shortcut keys on tooltips—When enabled, the shortcut for a tool appears in the tooltip for the corresponding button.
