The Merge tool is used to merge two or more multipoint, line, or polygon features in the same layer.
To merge two or more features, complete the following steps:
- Follow the steps to select two or more line or polygon features.
You cannot select more than 200 features.
- To enable the Merge tool, do one of the following:
- On the editing toolbar, click Merge .
- Use the Alt+Shift+M shortcut for Windows or the Option+Shift+M shortcut for Mac on your keyboard.
The Merge features pane appears. The selected features are listed in the pane in the order they were selected. By default, the attributes from the first feature selected will be preserved when the features are merged. The fields and attributes from the preserved feature are listed below the selected features.
- In the Merge features pane, hover over a feature and click Preserve to change which attributes are preserved if necessary.
- Click Merge.
The selected features are merged to create a single feature.
