With the elevation profile, you generate an elevation profile for the content on the map intersecting with a line that you are drawing. The elevation profile is rendered on a chart to display height differences between buildings and the terrain.
Work with elevation profile in the overview
The elevation profile analysis is available in the overview as an interactive analysis. The results are not persisted. To activate the elevation profile analysis in the overview, complete the following steps:
- Expand the Analysis button toolbar
in the lower right corner of the view.
- Select the Profile tool
.
The elevation profile tool opens with a toolbar at the top of the map.
- Start the analysis by clicking in the scene to place the first point.
- Click New analysis to create an elevation profile.
- Click Done to close the elevation profile tool.
Work with elevation profile in plans and projects
In plans and projects, the elevation profile analysis is available in the analysis mode where the results are persisted. See Analyze a plan or Analyze a project to learn how to access the analysis mode.
To configure an elevation profile analysis in a plan or project, complete the following steps:
- Open the analysis mode.
- Select the elevation profile analysis you want to configure from the analysis list or create an elevation profile analysis.
The analysis configuration panel appears.
- Provide a name and description for the analysis.
- Click the map to place the first point of the elevation profile line.
The first point is placed in the clicked location. The elevation profile chart appears in the side panel.
- Place one or multiple additional points on the map.
More points are placed in the clicked location. The elevation profile chart updates interactively as you place points on the map.
- Double-click or press the Enter key to add the last point and finish the analysis.
The elevation profile graph is rendered in the configurations side panel.
- Hover over the graph in the side panel to explore the created elevation profile.
- Do the following to replace the already created elevation profile:
- Click the New button in the Elevation profile section.
The previously created elevation profile is removed from the map, and the elevation profile chart is cleared from the side panel.
- Follow steps 4 through 7 above to create a new elevation profile.
- Click the New button in the Elevation profile section.
