Edit a project

You can edit all aspects of a project by creating scenarios and comparing them to the existing conditions. The editing functions in a project include the following:

  • Edit the study area.
  • Demolish underlying conditions.
  • Insert ground, trees, vehicles, and street furniture.
  • Draw buildings with defined height.

If a project is shared with everyone, only the owner can edit it. You cannot edit projects that you uploaded to the urban database through the data manager. You cannot edit the existing conditions scenario.

Start editing

To edit a project, complete the following steps:

  1. Select the project you want to edit in the view or locate it using the search panel at the upper left of the overview.

    The project editor opens.

  2. Use the editing tools at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Adjust the view by turning on or off the study area, demolition area, ground, buildings, trees, vehicles, and street furniture in the layer list in the left side panel.

Edit the study area

Complete the following steps to edit the study area:

  1. Click the Study area button Study area at the bottom of the view.
  2. Optionally, enable Show Urban Model parcels to visualize the parcels from the urban model in the view.

    You can snap the study area to those parcels.

  3. Edit the study area by clicking and dragging its vertices.

    Note:
    This tool supports snapping. To disable snapping temporarily, press the Ctrl key while drawing.

  4. Click the Study area button Study area at the bottom of the view to close the tool.

Mask existing buildings and trees

Complete the following steps to mask existing buildings and trees:

  1. Click the Demolish button Demolish at the bottom of the view.
  2. Draw a masking area on the map.

    Note:
    This tool supports snapping. To disable snapping temporarily, press the Ctrl key while drawing.

  3. Double-click to complete the drawing.

All buildings and trees inside the masking area are removed.

Note:

Alternatively, click Use study area to use the entire study area as a masking area. To delete an existing masking area, click Reset.

Insert ground visualization

Complete the following steps to draw ground when editing a project:

  1. Click the Ground button Ground at the bottom of the view to expand the ground library.
  2. Choose Grass, Concrete, or Water.
  3. Draw the ground area.

    Note:
    This tool supports snapping. To disable snapping temporarily, press the Ctrl key while drawing.

  4. Double-click to complete the drawing.

Draw buildings

Complete the following steps to draw buildings when editing a project:

  1. Click the Buildings button Buildings at the bottom of the view.
  2. Provide a numeric value in the text field to define the height of the building.
  3. Click + New building and draw the building footprint.

    Note:
    This tool supports snapping. To disable snapping temporarily, press the Ctrl key while drawing.

  4. Double-click to complete the drawing.
  5. To add more buildings to the project, repeat steps 2 through 4.

    You can draw buildings on top of each other to create a podium and tower effect.

Note:

After placing a building, you can click it and use the handles to change the building height and position.

Insert trees, vehicles, and street furniture

Complete the following steps to add trees, vehicles, and street furniture when editing a project:

  1. Click the Trees button Trees, Vehicles button Vehicles, or Street furniture button Street furniture at the bottom of the view to expand the object library.
  2. Select the object to place in the project.
  3. Click the map to place the object.

    Use the handles to scale, rotate, or move the placed object.

  4. Press the Esc key to deselect the object.
Note:

Buildings and the demolition area you create in the first scenario will be visible in the overview as future developments for everybody who has access to the project. Change the scenario order to show a different scenario in the overview. Trees, vehicles, and street furniture are not displayed in the overview.
