ArcGIS for Teams user interface

ArcGIS for Teams includes tools for creating, designing, and working with maps.

Map window

The map window displays the map and its tools. The UI items in the map window are described as follows:

  • Map tools—Design and work with the maps. The following are the map tool buttons:
    • Collapse/Expand Collapse—Collapse or expand the tools.
    • Layers Layers—Open the Layers list.
    • Basemap Basemap—View the basemap gallery. For more information, see Basemap layer.
    • Search Search—Search for a location on the map. For more information, see Find an address or place.
    • Navigation tools Navigation tools—Set or lock your map extent and set bookmarks. For more information, see Navigate a map.
    • Settings Settings—Sign in or out of your ArcGIS account and view the component version.
      Note:

This is the current version of ArcGIS for Teams, which may be slightly out of sync with the version that is visible in the information available in the Details + Support tab of the Microsoft AppSource product page.

  • Zoom in and Zoom out buttons—Zoom in and out on the map. For more information, see Navigate a map.
  • Click the Default map view button Default extent to zoom the map to its initial extent.
  • Click the New bookmark button Bookmark to add a bookmark and save the current map view.
Note:

The zoom buttons appear when you are actively interacting within your map frame. Move your pointer over the map to view the zoom buttons if they disappear.

Note:

This topic primarily describes navigating a map and creating bookmarks in ArcGIS for Teams in a Microsoft web environment.

Layers list

Each layer in a map is represented in the Layers list. To display the Layers list, click the Layers button Layers in the map tools.

The UI items in the Layers list are described as follows:

  • Expand layer contents—Expand or collapse the layer legend.
  • Active layer indicator—Identify the layer you are working on.
  • Layer name—View the title of the layer.
  • Symbology Symbology—Open the symbology options.
  • Style options Style options—Access symbol styling, clustering, and attribute styling.
  • Layer properties Layer properties—Enable pop-ups, the visible range, labels, transparency, and automatic refresh.
  • Add Add—Add data from the current Microsoft Excel workbook or add content from ArcGIS Online and your organizational account.
  • Close Close—Close the Layers list.
  • Share layer Share layer—Share the layer to your ArcGIS organization. If you've already shared the layer, this button changes to Update layer.
  • More options More options—Duplicate, remove, show layer details, or zoom to the full extent of the layer.
  • Hidden | VisibleVisible—Show or hide the layer on the map.

Symbology tab

The Symbology button Symbology opens the Symbology tab, where you can select the active layer you want to work with and whether there are specific fields, or data attributes, you want to symbolize. Select a symbol type (also known as smart mapping). The available choices in the Symbol type drop-down menu vary based on the active layer and attributes you have selected. For more information about the Symbology tab options, see Symbol types.

Note:

Depending how you added or created a layer—as the result of an analysis, for example—some functionality may not be available, and buttons related to that functionality are inactive.

Style options

The Style Options button Style options opens the Style Options tab. On this tab, you can configure clustering, adjust the layer's styling options (including any options unique to the symbology, such as classification methods), and adjust transparency and rotation by attribute.

Layer properties

The Layer Properties button Layer properties opens the Layer Properties tab. On this tab, you can enable and configure pop-ups and labels, as well as set the transparency, visible range, and automatically refresh interval for the layer.

Present and share

Note:

Present, share, sketch and annotate are limited to meetings with ArcGIS for Teams installed.

Presenting and sharing is much like the existing Microsoft Teams meeting Share option: participants in a meeting can see the presenter's screen. However, a key difference is that each participant can explore the shared content independently from the presenter.

Presenting in ArcGIS for Teams is a collaborative tool that helps you share, synchronize, and engage with publicly available ArcGIS spatial content in real time during Microsoft Teams meetings.

Sketch and annotate

The ArcGIS for Teams Sketch and annotate option is a collaborative feature you can use to share, synchronize, annotate, and engage with ArcGIS spatial content in real time during  Microsoft Teams  meetings.
