ArcGIS for Teams errors, messages, and warnings

The following sections and tables are a log that provides a list of errors, warnings, information, and validation messages you may encounter when using ArcGIS for Teams.

Message codes are defined as integers and organized into groups based on categories of service.

Add an ArcGIS layer

The following messages may occur when adding a layer from ArcGIS:

Code	Category	Title	Message	Description
1001	Information	Web map cannot be added	There are no operational layers.	When adding a web map from ArcGIS Online, the source web map must contain operational layers such as a feature service, tile layer, or imagery layer.
1002	Information	Layer cannot be added	The coordinate system or tiling scheme must align with the basemap.	The layer coordinate system of the layer being added must match that of the basemap. Check the layer coordinate system and try again with an aligned layer.
1003	Warning		Layer cannot be added.	The layer cannot be added. Check the source item in your organization or contact your administrator.
1004	Error		Layer failed to fetch.	Your layer is unable to load on the map. Contact your administrator to troubleshoot.
1005	Information		Spatial reference incompatible.	This layer's spatial reference is incompatible with the spatial reference of the basemap. You can either use a different basemap and read the layer or you can open the item in ArcGIS Online and republish the item with a different coordinate system. 1006	Error		The layer failed to copy.	Remove the layer you want to copy and add again or contact your administrator to check the layer properties in ArcGIS Online.
1007	Information	No access	You are currently signed in as Username. You do not have access to layer.	You do not have adequate permissions to add this content, for example, your user type, role, ArcGIS account, or organization settings do not allow this content, or the content is private or not shareable. Contact your organization administrator for more information.
1008	Information	Layer cannot be added	The layer contains no data.	Your layer has no features to display on the map.
1009	Information	Unsupported Version	The version must be 2.0 or higher. The webmap can be resaved to a newer version.	This happens when adding a layer from ArcGIS Online that contains an incompatible web map version. Go to ArcGIS Online, open the web map, and resave to a current version.
1010	Error	Layer cannot be added	The layer was deleted or has become inaccessible.	Your layer has been deleted or become inaccessible. Check the source layer or contact your organization administrator to troubleshoot.
1011	Warning	Query capability disabled	Check layer edit settings.	This appears when a layer does not have query capabilities and new geometries are recorded but hidden. To resolve, in the layer settings, change What features can editors see? from Editors can't see any features, even those they add to Editors can see all features. 1999	Warning	Unexpected error		Contact Esri Technical Support.

Add a data layer

The following messages may occur when adding a data layer from ArcGIS for Excel:

Code	Category	Title	Message	Description
2001	Error	Adding data failed	Check your data source and try again.	Ensure your location data is correct and accessible.
2002	Error		The selected column doesn't contain any valid JSON geometry.	When adding Microsoft data as a JSON type, the geometry column must contain an attribute formatted in valid JSON format. Check your source data for import or formatting errors or choose a different attribute.
2003	Information	No ArcGIS World Geocoder or custom geocoders that support batching are configured	Contact your organization administrator.	Go to your portal and configure a geocoder that supports batching.
2004	Warning	Layer cannot be added	Verify that your data has valid location information.	Your layer may not contain spatial data.
2005	Error		Layer failed to copy.	Remove the layer you want to copy, and add again.
2006	Error		The file contains invalid JSON.	JSON format not valid; check the source data for formatting or other errors and try again or select a different attribute.
2007	Error		Unknown spatial reference	Check the format of the CRS property in your GEOJson.
2008	Information		Large geometries were generalized to avoid memory issues.	Geometries were simplified to stay within memory limits.
2009	Error		File size limit of 500 MB exceeded.	Layer being added exceeds size limits.
2999	Warning	Unexpected error		Contact Esri Technical Support .

Work with basemaps

The following messages may occur while working with basemaps:

3001	Information	Basemap cannot be changed	The basemap and layer must have the same coordinate system.	Basemap and layer coordinate systems must be the same. Try again.
3002	Warning	Basemap cannot be loaded	Check the basemap service or select a different basemap.	Check the basemap service or select a different basemap.

Work with layers

The following messages may occur when working with layers:

6001	Error		The following invalid characters will be removed from the layer name list ( $, <, >).	An attempt was made to use invalid characters when naming your layer.
6002	Information	More than 200+ values	Values not listed here will still display on the map in this category.	No more than 200 unique values can be displayed.

Select features

The following messages may occur when selecting features:

7001	Warning	Too many selections	Select up to count locations or fewer.	Selection has a maximum limit.

Sign in

The following messages may occur when signing in:

Code	Category	Title	Message	Description
8001	Error		The specified ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise URL is not valid.	Contact your administrator or Esri Technical Support.
8002	Information		You don't have access to this resource.	Add permissions for this resource to your account or switch accounts.
8003	Information	Public ArcGIS Online account not supported	Sign in with ArcGIS Online organizational account.	ArcGIS public accounts are not supported. Sign in to ArcGIS with an organizational account.
8004	Error	Subscription has expired since MM/DD/YY	Contact your organization administrator.	Subscription expired. Contact your administrator or Esri Technical Support.
8005	Error	Subscription has been cancelled.	Contact your organization administrator.	An ArcGIS subscription may be canceled if it expires or if all credits are used. Contact your administrator or Esri Technical Support to get a new license.
8006	Error	Subscription has been disabled	Your subscription has been disabled because you consumed all your credits.	Your subscription has been suspended. Possible reasons for suspension include: the subscription has expired, the credit balance is zero or negative, and the organization's subscription has reached its capacity. Contact your administrator or Esri Technical Support.
8007	Error	Subscription in a restricted state	Contact your organization administrator.	Subscription restricted. An organization is moved to a restricted state when it uses all of its credits. With an organization that is in a restricted state, access to some capabilities and workflows is blocked. Contact your administrator or Esri Technical Support.
8008	Error		Your organization has used all available credits and could enter restricted status.	You are attempting to sign in to an organization that has used all available credits. An organization is moved to a restricted state when it uses all of its credits. With an organization that is in a restricted state, access to some capabilities and workflows is blocked. Contact your administrator or Esri Technical Support.
8009	Error	Invalid URL		Check the URL and reenter the proper address to sign in.
8999	Warning	Unexpected error		Contact Esri Technical Support.

Share

The following messages may occur when working with the Share|Export pane:

10001	Information	Unable to find shared information	A new layer would be published upon sharing.	Previously shared layer may have been deleted.
10002	Information	Unable to find shared information	A new map would be created upon sharing.	Previously shared layer may have been deleted.
10003	Error		The size of the summary text cannot be more than 2,048 characters.	Your summary is too long. Keep summary text under the character limit.
10004	Error		The size of the title cannot be more than 256 characters.	Your title is too long. Keep title text under the character limit.
10005	Error		The size of the tag text cannot be more than 256 characters.	Your layer tags have exceeded the limit. Keep tag text within the character limit.
10006	Error		Enter a title for the map.	A map title is required. Add a title before sharing.
10007	Error		Enter a title for the layer.	A layer title is required. Add a title before sharing.
10008	Warning	Unable to connect to the server	Check your internet connection.	Connection to server lost. Check your internet connection.
10999	Warning	Unexpected error		Contact Esri Technical Support.

Navigation tools

The following messages may occur when working with navigation tools, home extent, or bookmarks:

Code	Category	Title	Message	Description
12001	Information	Home extent unavailable	Your home extent is outside the boundaries of basemap.	When trying to navigate to the home extent, the home extent is located out of bounds when compared to the basemap's full extent. Clear the home extent and reset within basemap bounds.
12002	Information	Map extent is locked	Zoom to layer is disabled.	Map must be unlocked to zoom to this layer.
12003	Information		Unlock map extent to use bookmarks.	The map is locked, preventing panning. Unlock the map to navigate to other locations to bookmark.
12004	Error		Link must start with https://.	Thumbnail link must start with the proper address format.
12005	Error		Link may not contain file:.	Image link must be in the correct format.
12006	Error	Invalid URL		The image URL is not valid. Check and try again.
12007	Information	Location access disabled	Location services or permissions must be enabled.	Your location services or permissions must be enabled to navigate to your current location.

Layer styling

The following messages may occur when configuring layer styling, such as renderer, labeling, and so on:

14001	Warning		Arcade expression is not supported for changing its configuration when used in layer renderers.	Layers with Arcade expressions are not supported. Choose a different layer.

Application

The following messages may occur when downloading or updating an application:
