Edit features using the Editor tool

The Editor tool in ArcGIS for SharePoint allows users to create, edit, or delete features on ArcGIS feature layers. This tool is available in both edit and run modes and can be turned on or off by the page author. The tool is enabled as long as you have at least one editable ArcGIS feature layer.

You must either be the owner of the feature layer or have Edit privileges in your ArcGIS organization. To edit the feature layer, both the Enable editing setting must be enabled on the layer and the Enable editing toggle button must be turned on in Map Viewer. Layers with edit access are highlighted in the tool; tooltips explain why certain layers are not selectable.

Note:
Layers with forms configured are not currently supported.

To access the Editor tool, do the following:

  1. Open the SharePoint page with the map.
  2. In the Layers pane, click More options More options.
  3. Click Editor Editor.

    The Editor pane appears.

  4. From the Active layer drop-down menu, select the feature layer on which you want to create, edit, or delete a feature.

Templates and subtypes

If a feature layer includes subtypes or feature templates, they are shown in a Choose a template drop-down menu. Templates are used to define the default values for features within a layer. They can be thought of as forms that change based on the selected subtype. For instance, a template for utility poles might include different attributes depending on the material type (wooden, steel, and so on). When a user selects a template, it shows relevant attributes for that feature type. Subtypes are a set of features that share the same attributes. Each subtype is defined to provide other fields with the correct attribute information, including domains and default values. Subtypes are most useful in situations in which the attributes in your data are linked to other attributes. For example, street subtypes could include residential, arterial, and highway. Each of these subtypes could also have an associated default speed limit. After selecting a subtype or template from the menu, the fields will populate based on predefined configurations.
