Modifying redlining attributes

Markup features contain a context menu that allows you to modify the display attributes of the feature, including the line or border color, thickness, and transparency. The context menu contains different options depending on the markup feature.

In this topic, you will learn how to do the following:

Changing the line color

All markup features have a Line Color option in the redlining feature context menu. You can modify the color of a line or border (if modifying a point or polygon) using the color palette.

  1. Right-click the line, arrow, or polygon to display the context menu.
  2. Click Line Color.
  3. Update the line color symbology:
    • Click one of the predefined colors on the color palette.
    • Type an RGB (red, green, blue) color code and press Enter.

    The line color updates to reflect the color selection.

Changing the line thickness

All markup features contain a Line Thickness option in the markup feature context menu. You can modify the thickness of a line or border (if modifying a point or polygon) using the thickness slider.

  1. Right-click the markup feature to display the context menu.
  2. Click Line Thickness.
  3. Adjust the thickness slider to the desired thickness level.

    Click the button on the thickness slider to view the current thickness level.

    • Slide the transparency slider to the left to make the line or border thinner.
    • Slide the transparency slider to the right to make the line or border thicker.

    The line thickness updates dynamically as you slide the thickness slider.

Changing the line transparency

All markup features contain a Line Transparency option in the markup feature context menu. You can modify the transparency of a line or border (if modifying a point or polygon) using the transparency slider.

  1. Right-click the markup feature to display the context menu.
  2. Select Line Transparency.
  3. Adjust the transparency slider to the desired transparency level.

    Click the button on the transparency slider to view the current transparency level.

    • Slide the transparency slider to the left to make the line or border more transparent.
    • Slide the transparency slider to the right to make the line or border more opaque.

    The line transparency updates dynamically as you adjust the transparency slider.

Changing the line style

All markup features contain a Line Style option in the markup feature context menu. You can modify the style of a line or border (if modifying a point or polygon) using the context menu.

  1. Right-click the markup feature to display the context menu.
  2. Click Line Style.

    The context menu changes to display line style options.

  3. Choose the desired line style.

    The line or border style updates to the selected style.

  4. The scale of the map may affect the appearance of the line style. You may need to zoom in on the map for the line style to be displayed as selected.

Changing the polygon fill color

Points, polygons, and free polygons contain a Fill Color option in the markup feature context menu. You can modify the fill color using the color palette.

  1. Right-click the polygon or free polygon to display the context menu.
  2. Click Fill Color.
  3. Update the fill color symbology:
    • Click one of the predefined colors on the color palette.
    • Type an RGB (red, green, blue) color code and press Enter.

    The fill color updates based on the color selection.

Changing the polygon fill transparency

Points, polygons, and free polygons contain a Fill Transparency option in the markup feature context menu. You can modify the transparency of the polygon fill using a transparency slider.

  1. Right-click the polygon or free polygon to display the context menu.
  2. Click Fill Transparency.
  3. Adjust the transparency slider to the desired transparency level.

    Click the button on the transparency slider to view the current transparency level.

    • Slide the transparency slider to the left to make the fill more transparent.
    • Slide the transparency slider to the right to make the fill more opaque.

Editing text

All markup annotation features contain an Edit Text option in the markup feature context menu. You can modify the attributes of redlining text, such as font, font size, color, and font justification, using the text editor.

  1. Right-click markup annotation text on the map to display the context menu.
  2. Click Edit Text.

    The text editor dialog box appears.

  3. Modify the text as needed.

    Use the font drop-down menu to change the font type. You can also adjust the text emphasis (for example, bold, italics, and underline), color, and alignment.

  4. Click the Close button Close button to close the text editor.

Moving text

Markup annotation text contains a Move option in the markup feature context menu. You can move the text to any desired location.

  1. Right-click the markup annotation text to display the context menu.
  2. Click Move.
  3. Click the text you want to move.

    The pointer turns into crosshairs with four arrows. The text displays resizing handles (shown as rectangles). The Rotate tool is also displayed.

  4. With the pointer as crosshairs with four arrows, drag the text to the desired location.

    The text is moved.

Resizing the text area

Markup annotation text contains a Resize Text Area option in the markup feature context menu. You can resize the text box to the desired dimensions.

Note:

The text size will not change. You need to use the Edit Text option to change the font size.

  1. Right-click the markup annotation feature to display the context menu.
  2. Click Resize Text Area.
  3. Click the text you want to resize.

    The pointer turns into crosshairs with four arrows. The text displays resizing options (shown as rectangles). The Rotate tool is also displayed.

  4. Drag the resize handles (shown as rectangles) to the desired dimension.

    The pointer turns into a two-sided arrow when you pause the pointer on the resize options.

  5. Click anywhere on the map to disable the resize options.

    The text is resized to the desired dimension.

    Note:

    The text size updates once you have disabled the resize options.

Rotating text

Markup annotation text contains a Rotate option in the markup feature context menu. You can rotate the text to the desired orientation.

  1. Right-click the markup annotation feature to display the context menu.
  2. Click Rotate.
  3. Click the text you want to rotate.

    The pointer turns into crosshairs with four arrows. The text displays resizing handles (shown as rectangles). The Rotate tool is also displayed.

  4. Drag the Rotate tool clockwise or counterclockwise to the desired orientation.

    The pointer turns into crosshairs with four arrows when you pause the pointer on the Rotate tool.

    The text is rotated to the desired orientation.
