Refine and reset alignments

To refine the quality of alignment results, you can edit, add, or remove information. To update the alignment results after changes are made, you must run a refinement.

Refine an alignment

The following changes to alignment results require a refinement:

  • Editing settings in the alignment Refine pane. Settings that can be changed include optimization of camera or distortion model parameters and standard deviations of camera sessions or control points. To access the Refine pane, go to the Alignment tab and click Refine .
  • Editing a control point or manual tie point. This includes adding, modifying, disabling, or removing image measurements or points.
  • Removing an automatic tie point.

To refine alignment results after changes are made, complete the following steps:

  1. On the Alignment tab, click Run .

The alignment widget appears in the Process Manager pane.

  2. Track the alignment progress in the Process Manager pane.

The Quality Assurance tool appears when the process is complete. The Overview tab is active by default.

  3. Inspect the results and refine further if necessary.

The alignment is refined. You can now create reconstructions from the results.

Reset an alignment

You can reset an alignment to revert to the solution that was initially generated while keeping your manual image measurements.

To reset an alignment, complete the following steps:

  1. On the Alignment tab, in the Process group, click Reset .
  2. Click OK on the Reset Alignment warning message.

    Note:
Reset reverts the alignment to the initial result and keeps all manual measurements.

The alignment is reset.
