Manage portal connections from ArcGIS Reality Studio

A portal is an ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise site that allows you to share content with others. To share portal content, you must add a connection in ArcGIS Reality Studio by providing a URL to the portal.

You can connect to multiple ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise portals simultaneously in ArcGIS Reality Studio. When you set one of these portals as active, it becomes the portal that you share content to. Connections can be added, activated, removed, and edited from the Portals page. Additionally, you can switch your active portals from the Sign in menu at the top of the application.

Note:

If you do not have any portal connections, the Sign in menu is not visible. You'll add a portal connection in the next section.

Add a portal connection

To add a portal connection, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the Project tab on the ribbon and click the Portals page.

You can also access the Portals page from the Manage Portals link in the sign in menu.

  2. Click Add Portal.
  3. Provide the URL for the portal on the Add Portal dialog box and click OK.

    1. ArcGIS Enterprisehttps://webadaptorhost.domain.com/webadaptorname
    2. ArcGIS Onlinehttps://www.arcgis.com
    3. ArcGIS Online organization—https://yourorg.maps.arcgis.com

  4. To sign in to the portal, click Options or right-click the portal, click Sign in, and provide your username and password.

The portal connection can now be activated.

Set the portal as active

You can be signed in to multiple portals simultaneously, but you can only have one active portal in each instance of ArcGIS Reality Studio. An active portal is an ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise site you designate as your current organizational workspace.

By default, ArcGIS Online is the active portal. You can share content to different portals by changing which portal is set as active.

To switch between active portals, do one of the following:

  • Click the Project tab on the ribbon and click the Portals page. A green check mark indicates the active portal. Click the Options button of a portal or right-click any other portal and click Set As Active Portal.
  • At the top of the application, click the Sign in menu, click Switch Active Portal, and select the URL from the portal connection list.

Refresh a portal connection

Except for the active portal, which displays its current connection status, each portal listed on the Portals page displays its last known connection status. Click the Options button or right-click a portal and click Refresh to update the portal's current connection status. Alternatively, click the Refresh button under the list of portals to update the status of all the portal connections.

Remove a portal connection

To remove a portal connection, click the Options button or right-click the portal and click Remove Portal Connection.

Note:

If the URL you are removing is the active portal, you will be automatically signed out and disconnected.

Edit a portal connection

To edit a portal connection, click the Options button or right-click the portal and click Edit Portal Connection. When you finish editing the portal connection information, click OK to save the changes.
