Observers are responsible for collecting attribute and metric data for registered components and their subcomponents. A component’s observers run at specified intervals and each component type has a unique set of observers designated to monitor the critical aspects of the component.
When a component is registered with ArcGIS Monitor, observers are assigned to it. The type and number of observers vary depending on the component type. You can configure the interval of each observer individually to meet your organization's monitoring requirements. Observers can also be run on demand from their component's Settings page. This is useful when known changes have been made to a component and an immediate refresh of data is preferable over waiting for the next interval.
