The user account that you use to register a Windows host component must be part of the Remote Management Users group and have permissions to the WMI cimv2 namespace and subnamespaces. To enable WMI cimv2 permissions for the Remote Management Users group, complete the following steps:
- Sign in to the Windows host machine that you want to register with an administrator account.
- Right-click Start and click Run.
The Run dialog box appears.
- Type wmimgmt.msc in the Open text box and click OK.
The wmimgmt window appears.
- Right-click WMI Control and click Properties.
The WMI Control Properties dialog box appears.
- Click the Security tab.
- Expand Root, click cimv2, and click Security.
The Security for ROOT\cimv2 dialog box appears.
- Click Add.
The Select Users, Computers, Service Accounts, or Groups dialog box appears.
- Click Locations.
The Locations dialog box appears.
- Choose the host name of the machine in the tree view and click OK.
- Type Remote Management Users in the Enter the object names to select text box and click Check Names.
- Click OK.
The Remote Management Users group is added to the Group or usernames list.
- Click Advanced.
The Advanced Security Settings for cimv2 dialog box appears.
- Click Remote Management Users in the Permission entries list and click Edit.
The Permission Entry for cimv2 dialog box appears.
- Click the Applies to drop-down arrow and choose This namespace and subnamespaces.
- Check the Enable Account and Remote Enable check boxes under Permissions.
- Click OK to close the Permissions Entry for cimv2 dialog box.
- Click OK to close the Advanced Security Settings for cimv2 dialog box.
- Click OK to close the Security for ROOT\cimv2 dialog box.
- Click OK to close the WMI Control Properties dialog box.
- Close the wmimgmt window.
- Start the Windows Services manager.
- Right-click Windows Remote Management (WS-Management) and click Restart.
