Set up ArcGIS Monitor

Once ArcGIS Monitor Server is installed and authorized, you must create the initial administrator account and connect to the database. This account is different than the ArcGIS Monitor account you provided during the software installation. You'll use the account that you create to initially sign in to Monitor and configure settings.

  1. Go to https://monitorserver.domain.com:30443/arcgis/monitor/setup in a web browser or use the installed shortcut.

The Server Setup wizard appears. If you're prompted for a username and password, Monitor is already set up.

  2. Click Let's Start on the Welcome page.
  3. Create the initial administrator account.

The initial administrator account is recognized only by Monitor; it is not an operating system account. This account will have unrestricted access to Monitor and you'll use it to initially sign in to and configure Monitor.

    1. Provide the user's first and last name in the First Name and Last Name text boxes.
    2. Provide the user's email address in the Email text box.
    3. Provide a username and password in the Username and Password text boxes.
    4. Click Create.
  4. Provide connection information for the Monitor database repository.
    1. Type the fully qualified domain name and port number or IP address and port number of the database instance in the Address text box.
      Tip:

The default port number is 5432.

    2. Type the name of the database in the Database text box.
    3. Provide the credentials for the database in the Username and Password text boxes.
    4. Click Connect.
    Tip:

ArcGIS Monitor includes the files to connect to PostgreSQL, so you don't need to install a database client. If PostgreSQL is installed on a machine other than where Monitor Server is installed and you cannot connect to the database, ensure that the database is configured to allow remote connections.

  5. Click Complete on the Complete Monitor Setup page.

You're automatically signed in to Monitor using the initial administrator account that you created during setup.
