ArcGIS for Microsoft 365 includes an integrated Search tool that shows suggestions to help you find an address or place on a map. The tool uses ArcGIS World Geocoding Service to find locations.

To find an address or place, complete the following steps:
- From the map tools, click Search .
The search text box appears on the map.
- Type a place-name or partial name, address, or coordinates.
For example, type Las Vegas.
Note:
If you type a generic term, such as museums, the map zooms to the closest location that matches the search results based on the center of the map extent.

Alternatively, click Use current location to find your current physical location on the map.
As you type, a list of potential candidate matches appears, sorted by the closest match probability.
- Choose a result from the list of candidate matches.
The map zooms to the location. A pop-up appears containing information about the location, such as the name and address.
- Optionally, do any of the following on the pop-up:
- Click Dock to pin a location pop-up to the map window.
- Click Undock to unpin the pop-up window.
- Click Collapse to minimize the text on the pop-up or Expand to show all text attributes.
- Click Zoom to to focus the map extent on the search location.
- Click Close to close the pop-up.
Note:
Docked pop-ups last only as long as the current map session; they do not persist with a saved map.
- In the search field, click Clear search to empty the previous search results and begin a new search.
Turn off the Search tool
The Search tool is shown in the ArcGIS for Power BI map tools by default. To turn off the Search tool, complete the following steps:
- Click the Visualizations > Format visual > Visual tab .
- Expand the Search category.
- Turn off the Search toggle button.
The Search tool is no longer shown in the map tools.
