When you've finished configuring your Esri map component in Esri Maps Designer, you can view the dashboard to verify how the dashboard consumer will see and interact with the map.
Due to differences between the underlying frameworks of SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards and Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects, you cannot preview an Esri map-enabled dashboard using the standard SAP Dashboards Preview button. To view and interact with an Esri map in an SAP dashboard, you must either save the dashboard file to your SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform and view it in SAP BI Launch Pad, or export the dashboard to an HTML file stored on your application server and view it in a supported web browser.
Note:
Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects now includes localization in mulitiple languages. To ensure full support for localized features, upgrade existing dashboards using Esri Maps for SAP BusinessObjects v2.0.1 or later.
View your dashboard in a web browser
To view the interactive Esri map in a web browser, you must export your dashboard to HTML.
- From SAP Dashboards, choose File > Export > HTML.
- In the Save As window, browse to the em4bobj folder in your web server's webapps directory.
For example, the default location on Tomcat is C:\Program Files (x86)\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\webapps\em4bobj.
- Type a file name for the exported dashboard and press OK.
- In a supported browser, type the URL of the exported dashboard.For example, type localhost:8080/em4bobj/testDashboard.html.
- If prompted to do so, sign in to ArcGIS.The exported dashboard appears, displaying the configured map layers.
View your dashboard on the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform
You can save an interactive Esri map-enabled dashboard to the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform and view it using BI Launch Pad.
- From SAP Dashboards, choose File > Save to Platform > Desktop Only.
- Log in to SAP BI Launch Pad on the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform and press OK.SAP Dashboards generates XLF and SWF files that can be stored in the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform repository.
- In SAP BI Launch Pad, browse to the location of the exported dashboard and choose the file to open the dashboard.
- If prompted to do so, sign in to ArcGIS.The exported dashboard appears, displaying the configured map layers.
Note:
If you configure the map using a universe query set to update at regular intervals (every 30 minutes, for example), the map displays the updated data from the universe every time the query is refreshed.
