Release notes for ArcGIS GeoBIM 12.0

The updates below have been made in ArcGIS GeoBIM with ArcGIS Enterprise 12.0.

General

General product updates include the following:

• ArcGIS GeoBIM has a new Add Document Models (beta) geoprocessing tool to create simplified 3D models of Revit and IFC documents. Use this tool to automate the creation of lightweight, performant shells from your detailed model geometries and witness the fast rendering and smooth navigation of project data.
• The addition of the GeoBIMUtilities geoprocessing service (to support the Add Document Models (beta) tool) also requires additional config settings in the GeoBIM geoprocessing service. See Install the ArcGIS Enterprise geoprocessing services for more details.
• ArcGIS GeoBIM tools have been renamed to Add Document Extents, Add Project Issues, and Add Project Boundaries.
• The Outlier Analysis setting has been removed from the Add Document Extents tool.

Enhancements and bug fixes

The following enhancements and bug fixes were made:

• DGN, JPG, and PDF file formats are now supported in ArcGIS GeoBIM.
• The Select file formats to be processed setting has been added to the Add Document Extents tool. Configure the selection to include only the specific file formats you want to work with in ArcGIS GeoBIM.
• The Add thumbnails as attachments setting has been added to the Add Document Extents tool. Turn on the switch to include the thumbnail attachments from your selected ACC projects.

Known issues

See the ArcGIS GeoBIM Esri Community page for a complete list of known issues and status. The following are the known issues in this release:

• The Add Document Models (beta) tool will fail if your organization does not have a basemap group set. To work around this Create a custom basemap gallery.
• The Add Document Models (beta) tool will sometimes fail to add the ArcGIS GeoBIM layers to the project web scene that is created after the tool is executed. To work around this:
  • Add the project web scene to the ArcGIS GeoBIM app. This will add the GeoBIM layers to the web scene.
• If an ArcGIS GeoBIM project name uses a space character, errors are experienced when running the Add Document Models (beta) tool. The tool job will fail and project scene will not be generated if the project was created using a local basemap. The tool job will finish but layers will be missing from the project scene if the project was created using a web mercator basemap. To work around this:
  • Use underscores instead of space characters when naming your ArcGIS GeoBIM project.
• Union Dissolve and Convex Hull output summary shapes are missing geometry. The Union Dissolve polygon should be generated after running tools with the No holes checkbox selected in the Merged Document Boundaries card. The Convex Hull polygon should be generated after running tools with the Wrapped Document Boundaries card selected. To work around this:
  • Create a project boundary using either Merged Document Boundaries (with No holes left unchecked) or Enveloped Document Boundaries.
• The NO language code is not supported in ArcGIS GeoBIM.
• The Layer widget's zoom to button does not work for the Models layer in the ArcGIS GeoBIM project scene. To work around this:
  • Zoom to the Documents layer in the project scene. This will bring you to the same extents as the Models layer.
