The Editor widget allows you to add custom Note features to a project or edit the geometries of features in the project layers of an ArcGIS GeoBIM app.
The project layers are Documents, Issues, BIM Projects, Schedules, and Notes. Project layers are stored in the ArcGIS GeoBIM project and shared by all apps in the project. Any changes made to the layers in an app are applied to the entire ArcGIS GeoBIM project.
Access the Editor widget
The Editor widget is in the ArcGIS GeoBIM app in the Explorer group. To open the widget, click the Editor button in the upper left of the sidebar. You must have edit permissions to use the Editor widget to add Notes features or edit the geometries of the other project layers.
Note:
By default, the Editor widget is disabled in the ArcGIS GeoBIM app. Turn on the Editor toggle button when configuring app tools to add it to the app.
Notes layers
Use the Editor widget to add or delete Notes layer features, or edit existing features in the Notes layers. Notes consists of the following layers based on the geometry type:
- Location Notes (point)
- Line Notes (polyline)
- Area Notes (polygon)
To edit an existing note, open the Editor widget, click Select, and select the note in the map. The Editor widget changes to Edit feature mode and allows changes to Label and Comment attributes, and attachments. The feature is also highlighted in the map and allows changes to geometry and rotation. Select the note on the map a second time to display vertices of the feature that can be edited (to undo this select the note again). Optionally, click the Delete button to open the Delete feature dialog and click Delete again to permanently remove the note.
Edit Project layer geometry
You can use the Editor widget to modify the geometries of existing features in other project layers (Documents, Issues, BIM Projects, and Schedules). Features can be added or removed from these layers using the Editor widget, but attributes can only be modified for the Notes layers. No layers except the ArcGIS GeoBIM project layers can be edited using the Editor widget. To modify the geometry of a feature, open the Editor widget and select the feature to modify. Controls appear on the map that allow you to edit the geometries of the selected feature, and snapping options are available to make precise edits.
Note:
The Select a feature to edit it dialog box still displays in the Editor widget when a non-ArcGIS GeoBIM feature is selected in the Map widget.
Remove edits from project layers
To remove edits from Documents, Issues, and BIM Projects layers, rerun the ArcGIS GeoBIM tool that was used to create the layer. For more information, see Introduction to ArcGIS GeoBIM tools.
Documents layer
To remove edits from the Documents layer, rerun the Add Document Extents tool with the applicable settings and the Force Sync setting enabled. To store edits made to the Documents layer, run the Add Document Extents tool with the Force Sync setting disabled.
Issues layer
To remove edits from the Issues layer, rerun the Add Project Issues tool with the applicable settings and the Force Sync setting enabled. To store edits made to the Issues layer, run the Add Project Issues tool with the Force Sync setting disabled.
BIM Projects layer
To remove edits from the BIM Projects layer, rerun the Add Project Boundaries tool with the applicable settings. Running the Add Project Boundaries tool overwrites edits made to the BIM Projects layer. However, the tool uses the edits in the Documents or Issues layers when creating a new project boundary.
Schedules layer and Notes layers
The Schedules layer is created manually, so edits to the layer cannot be removed unless you manually re-create the layer.
There are no automated systems for clearing Notes layers or undoing changes made to Notes features. Changes to Notes layers must be done manually.
