Create notes using the ArcGIS Field Maps mobile app

Use ArcGIS Field Maps mobile app to create notes for an ArcGIS GeoBIM app.

Note:

This feature requires the basic knowledge of ArcGIS Field Maps. If you need more information about configuring the ArcGIS Field Maps app in your device, visit the ArcGIS Field Maps help documentation.

Complete these steps to create notes in the ArcGIS Field Maps mobile app:

1. Open the ArcGIS Field Maps app on your mobile device.
2. Select the map you created for the ArcGIS GeoBIM app.
3. Click Cancel if a pop-up appears over the map that states Turn on Location access in the Settings app to allow Field Maps to display.... to disable the GPS on your device.

   Note:

   Enable location services for the ArcGIS Field Maps app if you want to use the GPS in your device.

4. Zoom to your area of interest manually if the location services are disabled on your device.
5. Click the Layers menu and click Documents .
6. Click Add .

   The Location target appears on the map, centered on your location.

   Note:

   Depending on your app settings, the Location target may not automatically center on your location. To learn how to configure the Collecting new features setting with Field Maps Designer, see Set map behavior when collecting new features.

7. Follow these steps to create Location notes:
   1. Click New Feature next to the Location Notes symbol.

      Crosshairs appear on the map.

      Note:

      The Add Point button may be disabled for an ArcGIS Enterprise feature service when the crosshairs are moved beyond the location of the user in ArcGIS Field Maps. See the knowledge base article for the solution or workaround for this issue.
   2. Fill out information fields for your note.
   3. Click Add Point.
   4. Click the Submit button on the top right.
8. Follow these steps to create Line Notes:
   1. Click New Feature next to the Line Notes symbol.

      Crosshairs appear on the map.

   2. Fill out information fields for the issue.
   3. Click Add Point a few times until you create a multi-segment line.
   4. Click the Submit button on the top right.
9. Follow these steps to create Area notes:
   1. Click New Feature next to the Area Notes symbol.

      Crosshairs appear on the map.

   2. Fill out information fields for the issue.
   3. Click Add Point a few times until you create an area.
   4. Click the Submit button on the top right.

You have now created notes for an ArcGIS Field Maps ArcGIS GeoBIM app.
