Use the Analysis Layers page

Use Analysis Layers Layers in ArcGIS Excalibur to determine the web services that are available to you in your content and your organization's content that you can use in the application. The Analysis Layers view displays information about each available web service and can be connected directly to the Search and Discover page or canvas.

Filter by layer title

The Analysis Layers page can be filtered by the layer title.

  1. Enter the name of a layer in the input text box.
  2. Delete the text to clear the text box.

Sort by field

The web services can be sorted in ascending or descending order by fields such as date created, date modified, owner, or title to help identify layers.

  1. Choose a field from the Sort menu.

    Options are Date Created, Last Modified, Item Owner, Item Type, and Item Title. Last Modified is the default field.

    The Analysis Layers list is dynamically sorted based on the chosen field.

  2. Click the Ascending/Descending button Sort in the Sort menu to switch between ascending and descending order.

    Descending order is the default sort direction.

Filter by layer type

The Analysis Layers page can be filtered by layer type.

  1. Click FilterFilter and select the specific layer types you want to view.

    As filters are applied, the layer list populates with layer types that are selected in the filter.

  2. Click the same layer type again in the filter drop-down menu to remove it.

Refresh list

Click Refresh List Reset to reload the Analysis Layers page. This displays the services that are available to you from your content or your organization's content.

Layer information

Each layer card displays the following information in the Analysis Layers list item details:

  • Name
  • Layer type
  • Owner
  • Last updated

When information on a layer's item details page is edited, the changes are reflected on the layer card the next time the list is refreshed.

Search and Discover

When you click Search Search on any ArcGIS imagery layer or ArcGIS video layer, the Search and Discover page appears, where you can search for, discover, and queue images or videos for further use. The search map will be zoomed to the extent of the service where you can define filters such as the area you want to search.

View in the canvas

When you click View Hide layer, the canvas opens where you can focus on and work with specific images or videos using the display, comparison, and analysis tools. When clicking View Hide layer on an image service, the Map Panel view in the canvas will be zoomed to the extent of the web service and the Image Metadata Table will be populated with corresponding images. When clicking View Hide layer on a video service, the Map Panel view in the canvas will be zoomed to the extent of the video and the Focus Panel view will have the video loaded and ready to play.

Additional layer information

For more information about a specific layer, click a layer in the Analysis Layers list. Layer Information opens displaying additional details for the selected layer. You can view your layer in the canvas by clicking View Hide layer or click the drop-down arrow and select More Details More information to view more information about this layer.

Note:

If the service is a non-query-enabled service, you cannot search against that service in Search and Discover.

After clicking More Details, you can view the following information:

  • An Overview section will contain the layer name, description, layer ID, and version.
  • A Properties section will contain the properties that are set on the layer based on the information from the layer's REST endpoint.
  • A Fields section will display any fields that are added to the layer if you are viewing the details of an imagery layer.

Video layers will have an additional Poster section where item owners can add a new poster to be used for the video layer. A poster is a placeholder image that displays before media plays and will be the still frame you see on a video player before it starts.

Note:

The poster image must be a .jpg, .jpeg, or .png and must be less than 2MB in size.

To update the poster, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure you are the item owner or an administrator.
  2. Click Update in the a Poster section.
  3. Upload an image to be used as the poster.
  4. Click Update.

    The poster is changed to the uploaded image.

If you are viewing the details of a livestream video layer, there will be an additional option where you can start or stop the livestream, as well as an option to convert the livestream to an on-demand video layer. To start or stop the livestream, click Start Livestream or Stop Livestream and the livestream will either start or stop.

To convert a livestream layer to an on-demand video layer, click the drop-down next to the Start/Stop Livestream button and click Convert Livestream. The livestream will be stopped and the previously shown media will be converted to an on-demand video layer that can be viewed at any time from the Analysis Layers list.

An Item Details section will display the following information:

  • Sharing level
  • Date created
  • Item ID
  • Layer item type
  • Layer URL
  • Last modified
  • Title
  • Owner
  • Description
  • Snippet
  • Tags
  • Item URL

You can view the item URL and layer URL. You can open details about your layer in another window by clicking View item details in a new window, and you can copy the URLs by clicking the Copy URL to clipboard button.

You can also click Preview Layer to view a preview of the current layer or click View in Canvas to open the layer in the canvas.

Delete an item

You can delete an item from the Analysis Layers page if you are the owner of a layer or an administrator. To delete an item from the Analysis Layers page, complete the following instructions:

  1. From the Analysis Layers page, navigate to an item you own.
  2. Click the layer you want to delete to display the Layer information panel.
  3. Click the drop-down arrow and then click Delete Layer Delete.

    Additionally, click Cancel to go back to the Analysis Layers page.

  4. Click Delete.

    A notification appears confirming deletion of the item.
