Edit features

Editing is performed with tools that appear on the ribbon, on editing toolbars, and in panes. Commands on the context menu appear for specific tools, allowing them to perform a variety of related edits.

The following sections are a quick tour of the editing user interfaces.

Edit tab

On the Edit tab, named groups contain related tools and commands that are essential to common editing workflows.

Selection

In the Selection group, you can set the active selection method, run a selection tool, clear a selection, and open the Attributes pane.

Attributes

Click the Attributes button Attributes to open the task pane, where you can view feature attributes.

The Attachments tab and toolbar appear in the Attributes pane when you select a feature with file attachments enabled. You cannot add attachments in Drone2Map, but you may view them on features with attachments.

Clipboard

In the Clipboard group, Cut Cut, Copy Copy, and Paste Paste copy features to the clipboard and paste them to the same layer or a different layer.

Snapping

In the Snapping group, you can set your snapping preferences. These controls are also available in a pop-up menu on the status bar at the bottom of the current map.

Features

In the Features group, you can save, discard, or delete selected features in the current map. You can also open editing task panes for creating or modifying features and managing feature templates.

Save Edits

The Save Edits button Save Edits opens the Save Edits dialog box and allows you to save any active edits. By default, the box appears each time you click the Save Edits button. You can check the Don't show this dialog again check box to save the edits without confirmation when you click the Save Edits button. The Show Edits drop-down menu allows you to see which layers have active edits and each layer's source.

Discard Edits

The Discard Edits button Discard Edits opens the Discard Edits dialog box and allows you to discard any active edits. By default, the box appears each time you click the Discard Edits button. You can check the Don't show this dialog again check box to discard the edits without confirmation when you click the Discard Edits button. The Discard Edits drop-down menu allows you to see which layers have active edits and each layer's source.

Create Features

The Create Features button Create Features opens the task pane containing feature templates and related construction tools for layers in the current map.

Modify Features

The Modify Features pane Modify Features contains the full collection of editing tools that modify features. On the My Tools tab, you can create a customized collection of tools for quick access.

Delete

The Delete button Delete allows you to delete any selected features. You can check the Do not show this again check box to delete without confirmation when you click the Delete button.

Editing toolbars and context menus

Editing toolbars and context menus appear when you run a particular tool, and they contain additional tools and commands for completing the workflow. To cancel or close a context menu, click anywhere in a map or a scene away from selectable features, or press the Esc key.

General editing context menu

A context menu containing general editing tools appears when you select a feature and right-click the current map or scene. If you do not select a feature, tools that require a selection are disabled. Multipatch and 3D tools appear on the menu when a map or scene contains z-enabled features.
