Install and manage data packs

Available with Business Analyst license.

The data available for use with Business Analyst Enterprise is organized into bundles called data packs. The United States data pack includes Esri demographic variables at multiple geographic levels, including consumer spending, segmentation, market potential, and business summaries. Point data is included for business locations.

Installing the data packs is the final configuration stage before Business Analyst Enterprise is ready for operation.

Download the USA data pack

You have the option to install multiple vintages of data to ArcGIS GeoEnrichment Server. The available vintages are typically the current-year and previous-year data packs. The data sources are available as data pack download files in 7-Zip format. Each data pack includes two files; the total amount of space required for a data pack is roughly 20 GB. You must download both files for the data to unzip correctly. If you do not have 7-Zip installed on your device, you need to install the software from www.7-zip.org.

To install the Esri 2026, and optionally the Esri 2025, data packs, complete the following steps for each data pack:

Note:

You only need to extract from the first compressed file (GEDatapack_USA_2026R1.7z.001). The extraction process automatically extracts and reassembles Files 001 and 002 to create the full U.S. 2026 data pack (GEDatapack_USA_2026R1.zip). Do not attempt to extract File 002.

  1. On the My Esri site, click Downloads, select All Products and Versions, click All Versions, and search for Business Analyst.
  2. Look for U.S. Data for use with ArcGIS Business Analyst Enterprise, ensure that the correct version is used, and click View Downloads.
  3. Click the Download Components tab, and click Data and Content to expand the list of files.
  4. Locate the following files, and click Download:
    • #1 Business Analyst Enterprise 2026 Data (U.S.A)
    • #2 Business Analyst Enterprise 2026 Data (U.S.A)
    • #3 Business Analyst Enterprise 2026 Data (U.S.A)
    • Business Analyst Enterprise 2026 POI Data (U.S.A)
    • #1 Business Analyst Enterprise 2026 Hexagon Data (optional)
    • #2 Business Analyst Enterprise 2026 Hexagon Data (optional)

The files are downloaded to the default folder destination.

  5. Right-click GEDatapack_USA_2026R1.7z.001, and click 7-Zip > Extract Here.

Once the files are extracted, you will have a compressed folder called GEDatapack_USA_2026R1.zip. This folder will remain zipped and will be installed in the next step.

  6. If you downloaded the hexagons data packs, right-click GEDatapack_USA_2026R1_Hexagons.7z.001, and click 7-Zip > Extract Here.

Install the data packs

The GeoEnrichment Data Management Utility installs the data pack, creates performance indices, publishes map services, and restarts GeoEnrichment Service.

Data packs come in zip archive format. Copy the compressed GEDatapack_USA_2026R1.zip, GEDatapack_USA_DataAxle_POI_2026R1.zip, and optionally the GEDatapack_USA_Hexagons_2026R1.zip files to the machine where GeoEnrichment Server is installed. These files should remain zipped. When adding the data packs, browse to the compressed files—as illustrated in step 4 below.

To install the data packs, complete the following steps:

  1. Once the data management utility automatically launches after the environment configuration, click Next.

The data management utility is also a Start menu shortcut.

  2. Provide the credentials for a built-in portal administrator, such as the initial administrator account, and click Next.
  3. Select Add countries or regions to the GeoEnrichment Server, and click Next.
  4. Install the contents of the zip file by doing the following:
    1. Click Add (upper right corner).
    2. Browse to the location of the GEDatapack_USA_2026R1.zip, GEDatapack_USA_DataAxle_POI_2026R1.zip data packs, and optionally GEDatapack_USA_Hexagons_2026R1.zip, and add the files.

The data pack descriptions and paths are displayed in the wizard.

    3. Click Next.
  5. Select the countries you want to install, and click Next.

For the USA data pack, United States is selected by default.

  6. Review the changes, and click Install.

A details page provides a summary of the progress. A link to a log file is provided if there are any warnings or errors.

  7. Click Finish to close the data management utility.
  8. Note:
Installation time estimates are based on installation of data packs to a solid-state drive. The amount of time will vary depending on hardware. For example, if you are installing a data pack to a hard disk drive, it will take much longer (12 hours or more for the USA data pack). Do not stop the installation if it takes longer than the estimated time.
