ArcGIS Business Analyst Enterprise includes a street network dataset for the U.S. that can be published as routing services to a federated ArcGIS Server site. It can be the same as the GeoEnrichment Server site or any other site as long as it is federated and has the ArcGIS Network Analyst extension authorized. This process creates all the routing services based on your network dataset and registers them as utility services in your ArcGIS Enterprise portal for applications to discover and use them.

Once published, the services can be used with Business Analyst Enterprise for creating study areas based on driving and walking times and distances.

License:

To publish routing services, your ArcGIS Server site needs to be authorized with the provided ArcGIS Network Analyst extension license.

Downloading the street network data

  1. On the My Esri site, click Downloads and then click ArcGIS Enterprise 11.3 (Windows). Click Products and then click All Versions and search for Business Analyst.
  2. Look for U.S. Data for use with ArcGIS Business Analyst Enterprise and ensure the latest version is used. Click View Downloads.

    There will be three downloads for the street data. All three must be downloaded to a folder on your local drive.

  3. Expand the details of the download components to see the descriptions.
  4. Locate #1 ArcGIS Business Analyst Enterprise 2024 Street Data MGDB (U.S.A) and click Download.
  5. In the Esri Download Manager dialog, click Click to download your file now.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for #2 ArcGIS Business Analyst Enterprise 2024 Street Data MGDB (U.S.A) and #3 ArcGIS Business Analyst Enterprise 2024 Street Data MGDB (U.S.A).
  7. The Destination Folder for Files dialog will appear. Keep the default location or click Browse to choose a different location.
  8. Right-click on ArcGIS_BAEnterprise_StreetsData_USA_2024.7z.001 and click 7-Zip > Extract Here.

    Note:
    You will only need to extract from the first compressed file (ArcGIS_BAEnterprise_StreetsData_USA_2024_MGDB.7z.001). The extraction process automatically extracts and reassembles Files 001, 002, and 003 to create the StreetMap Premium Data folder. Do not attempt to extract File 002 or 003.

Tip:
While you can keep the network dataset in a shared location that is accessible to all the machines in your GIS server site, it is recommended to copy the network dataset locally, on each machine, for best performance when running the services.

Authorizing the street data for ArcGIS Enterprise

To configure routing services with ArcGIS Enterprise, the StreetMap Premium North America extension must be authorized for ArcGIS Server. Upon purchase of Business Analyst Enterprise, an authorization code is provided through My Esri.

Prerequisite:

To install the authorization, follows the steps below:

  1. On the My Esri site, click Licensing and then click Authorizations.
  2. In the Quick Search text box, type Business Analyst.

    The results below are populated with all Business Analyst products available.

  3. Locate the ArcGIS Business Analyst NA for Server authorization for the current version and expand the Details to view the Authorization Number.
  4. Copy the Authorization Number and use it to activate your license using the ArcGIS Server software authorization wizard.

Configure and publish routing services using your network dataset

After downloading and extracting the data, please follow these instructions to configure and publish routing services using your network dataset to a federated ArcGIS Server site.

Configuring a network utility services from ArcGIS Online

You have the option to configure your portal to use utility services from ArcGIS Online instead of publishing them to your own server. This has the added benefit of providing street network coverage outside the United States. If you would like to use online network services provided by Esri, you must have an ArcGIS Online organizational account. The account must have credits associated with it and the correct permissions to use the utility services.

The ArcGIS Online network services provide coverage for several countries or areas and can be configured in the portal following the steps below.

  1. Sign in to the portal website as a member of the default administrator role in your organization.
  2. At the top of the site, click Organization and click the Settings tab.
  3. Click ArcGIS Online on the left side of the page.
  4. Select Network.
  5. Enter the credentials for the ArcGIS Online account that is to be used for the utility services.
  6. Click Configure.
