Introduction to Solar Site Data Management

Solar Site Data Management can be used to map solar sites assets, edit data, and view system maps in the field and office.

It turns ArcGIS into a system for solar site operators to easily map their sites and keep information up to date. It provides a preconfigured data model for geospatially representing solar site assets, features, and constraints as well as simple-to-use interactive site maps for office and field staff.

After deploying the solution, operators can immediately begin mapping their solar sites by importing data from CAD files, digitizing site data with web or desktop software, or collecting site data with GPS. Operators with existing geospatial data can load it and begin using the apps.

When you deploy this solution in your ArcGIS organization, you also get a solution item that organizes the key information products and summarizes all the ArcGIS items (applications, forms, projects, maps, feature layers, feature layer views, and so on) included with the solution. The solution item also illustrates any dependencies items have on each other.

The following are the release notes:

2.0 (Nov 2025	The SolarSiteSystem hosted feature service has been updated to include new functionality: The Communication Cable layer has been removed from the schema. The EPC field has been removed from the Project Site layer. The field sensor group display name has been renamed to sensor category. All lists, except for GPS fields, have been updated from numeric based to text based, and list values have been alphabetized where appropriate. Spatial Source and Spatial Confidence fields have been added to pop-ups and forms. Pop-up titles have been updated to be the asset ID only or Name only. The energy storage polygon, property boundary, constraints, pole, fence, and road symbology have been updated. Solar Site Web Style and Desktop Style items are now available in the Solar Site Data Management Content folder upon deployment and include updated symbology. The Solar Site Editor ArcGIS Instant Apps app has been removed and the Solar Site Editor web map will be used in ArcGIS Web Editor. The SolarSiteSystem_editing feature service view has been removed. The Solar Site Editor and Solar Site Field Editor apps have been updated: Data is now sourced from the SolarSiteSystem hosted feature service. The Map Notes hosted feature service has been removed. Grouping for the services has been removed. The Map Notes hosted feature service and grouping for the services have been removed from the Solar Site Viewer app. Solar Site Dashboard now uses the SolarSiteSystem hosted feature service The Solar Site Data Manager ArcGIS Pro project was removed and replaced with configuration instructions to create your own Solar Site Data Manager project. Changes have been made to the following groups: The Solar Site Map Notes Manager group has been removed. The Solar Site Viewer group has been renamed to Solar Site Office Users. A new group called Solar Site Field Users has been added. The SolarSiteSystem hosted feature service is shared with this group. All Solar Site Map Notes services and apps have been removed from the solution. This capability is now available in the Map Notes solution.
