Introduction to Incident Awareness and Assessment

ArcGIS Online    |    |

Incident Awareness and Assessment can be used to maintain situational awareness during military domestic operations.

In recent years, the frequency and intensity of major disasters has increased, and so has the impact to local communities. When a disaster overwhelms local and state resources, a Governor can request assistance from the National Guard. Their missions can then augment local resources, provide logistical support, support search and rescue operations, and provide critical medical assistance during response and recovery efforts.

At the same time communities are dealing with increasing hazards and threats, limited access to technology and technical staff is impacting coordination and communication activities. This information latency can hinder the responding unit's ability to plan and assist effectively. Implementing a data-driven approach will ensure National Guard command staff are aware of rapidly changing conditions within an impacted community and are better equipped to make critical decisions.

The Incident Awareness and Assessment solution delivers provides a set of capabilities that helps responding National Guard units assess impacted areas, maintain situational awareness, and enhance decision-making.
