Introduction to Broadband Outreach

Broadband Outreach can be used to understand broadband coverage and promote actions being taken to address the digital divide.

In a connected world, access to reliable broadband internet service is essential. Today, the FCC estimates that approximately 35% of Americans do not have reliable access to service (25MB download / 3MB upload). In some areas, internet access is either limited, unavailable, or unaffordable for those in need. Understanding where gaps in broadband coverage exist helps governments make smart broadband infrastructure investments and promote equitable access. Broadband Outreach is typically implemented by state and local governments that want to understand where broadband gaps exist in their community and how actions they are taking impact access or needs.

The Broadband Outreach solution delivers a set of capabilities that help you inventory broadband investments and resources, understand broadband coverage in your community, and promote actions being taken to address the digital divide.
