You can change the name that is displayed for hosted feature layer, hosted feature layer view, and hosted table items and the layers and tables inside them, which are also referred to as sublayers.
Changing the names of the items or sublayers only changes the names that users see for that item or sublayer in the website and in clients. None of the following are affected when you change the item or sublayer display name:
- Changing the sublayer names in a source hosted feature layer or hosted table does not affect the names in any dependent hosted layers or views.
- Changing the dependent layer's item name or the names of the sublayers in the dependent layer does not change the names in the source hosted feature layer.
- Changing the item display name does not affect the name of the underlying service.
To change the display name for a hosted table, hosted feature layer, hosted feature layer view, or their sublayers, complete the following steps:
- Sign in to your organization.
You must be the layer owner or a member of the default administrator role or a custom role assigned the set of privileges to manage all content owned by organization members.
- Open the item page for the hosted feature layer or hosted table.
- Rename the layer.
- To rename the item, click the Edit button next to the item name on the Overview tab.
- To rename a sublayer, open its item page by clicking the name under the Layers or Tables list on the Overview tab, and click the Edit button next to the sublayer name.
- Provide a new name and click Save.
