Your user type can affect how you work with feature layers.
Publicly shared content
In ArcGIS for AutoCAD, you can access public content from ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online as well as make a direct connection to web layers and edit feature layers on stand-alone ArcGIS Server sites without an Esri named user type.
Portal-managed and subscription content
An Esri named user type allows you to access an organization's content that the named user owns, content that is shared with a group the named user is a member of, and supported content shared to the entire organization. The editing privileges are set for layers with feature access enabled based on the parent layer within the organization.
Publicly shared data does not require an Esri named user type. To access web feature layers belonging to an organization as read-only to a drawing, a Viewer named user type is sufficient. To edit web feature layers in an organization, you must have a Contributor or higher named user type. To create web feature layers in an organization, you must have a Creator or higher named user type.
For editing web feature layers that have branch versioning and creating named versions, you must have a user type that includes advanced editing capabilities, such as Professional or higher.
Esri-curated subscription content is only available to Esri named users, and premium content requires a Viewer or higher user type with credit usage privileges and a sufficient balance of credits.
In order to share content from ArcGIS for AutoCAD as a hosted feature layer you must have a creator or publisher member role.
Download and installation
There is no requirement for a named user type or additional licensing fee to download and install ArcGIS for AutoCAD. Accessing and using maps, imagery, and feature layers conform to the standard Esri policies for accessing content managed in ArcGIS Online and an ArcGIS Enterprise portal.
