esri_sublayer_names (AutoLISP)

Returns a list of sublayer names of the specified web feature or document feature layer.

Syntax

(esri_ sublayer_names flname)

Arguments

  • flname | string | required | An existing web feature layer or document feature layer name in the drawing.

Example usage 1

Requests a list of subtype layers from the parks document feature layer.

(esri_sublayer_names "parks")

Result example usage 1

Returns a message that the parks document feature layer has no subtype layers.

(nil ("Error" . "Subtype not found."))

Example usage 2

Requests a list of subtype layers from the utilitypoles web feature layer.

(esri_sublayer_names "utilitypoles")

Result example usage 2

Returns a list of subtype layers from the utilitypoles web feature layer.

("Wood" "Steel")

Return values

  • If successful, returns a list of web feature layer names as strings.
  • If failed, returns a list with the first value of nil and then an associated list containing the key value "Error" and an associated error message as a string: (nil ("Error" . "<message>"))

Failed return values

A failed return value can occur for any of the following reasons:

  • (nil ("Error" . "Subtype not found."))

    The web or document feature layer has no subtypes.

  • (nil ("Error" . "Missing required argument."))

    One or more required arguments were not provided.

  • (nil ("Error" . "Feature layer not found."))

    The provided feature layer was not found.
